So, fresh off the huge Skin Crime box set, a little sneak preview of what's cooking next at Hospital - upcoming 12 hour Âmes Sanglantes tape box, the second salvo from the Trans Industrial Assembly, which fist comprised of the Alberich / K.P. / Exploring Jezebel boxes from a few years back.
If this set is going to be anything like the previous ones, maybe there'll be a couple more artists doing boxes. I'm hoping for RSE, Christian Cosmos or maybe Geography Of Hell or Lussuria.

Oh, sweet Jesus.
The first TIA series is among the best things Hospital has ever released and Chindia Tower Impalements still gets regular rotation from me. This is gonna be too much to handle.
>I'm hoping for RSE, Christian Cosmos or maybe Geography Of Hell or Lussuria.
At least one Fernow project is bound to be involved and I can't imagine it being Prurient or EJ again. Who knows?
Preorders are up for the Unknown Rains on Boomkat, too. Dom emailed me saying the tape would be available for mailorder from Hospital 'soon', and the release date is tomorrow so I can only imagine the tape will drop then too.

Also if anyone is keen, I just bought nearly all of the digital Prurient releases out of panic that they would be removed, in light of loads of other digital Hospital releases disappearing. I'll start uploading them later today.
>>64415387
Fantastic. I was just wondering when that tape was going to come out a while ago.
Hospital's activity has been really relentless this year. They put out more releases in the first 4 months of 2016 than in all of 2015.

Me too man. As stunning as FNF was, and as huge of an achievement that it was, I think the way Unmasking The Insect made me feel automatically pushed FNF aside. I'm not sure if anybody else could call a track 'Raped By The Dragon' and have it actually be so powerful.

Unmasking The Insect was superb. For me it did a better job at capturing all the conflicting themes and emotions of Prurient than FNF did, to be honest.
That it did so with as much restraint and subtlety as it did just made it all the more hard-hitting.

You fucking nailed it, that's exactly how I felt. It's kind of bizarre to me that he clearly pours his all into his work, especially with all the screaming and hollering, and yet 'restraint' is so applicable when describing these more obscure tapes. There's so much energy and exertion, but these tapes still feel like they're crawling along the floor and bleeding out. I hope that makes sense.

The Tesco reissues of these(as well as Annihilationist) were a godsend. Especially Despiritualized, the suffocating, bare claustrophobia of that EP strikes me as one the better examples of the way Fernow translates concept and theme into sound.
Hope there's more to come in terms of quality Prurient tape reissues.

More Jon-Benet.
Can anyone recommend me some good 2016 noise?
>>64416754
According to the person who made the charts? No idea, but 'harsh noise' tends to be differentiated from noise in general just because it's, well, harsher I guess. Most Merzbow work, cut-up artists like Sickness and Ahlzagailzehguh, wallriders like The Rita, The Cherry Point, and Dead Body Collection, etc are more representative of the harsh noise realm, but there's a lot of noise out there that's decidedly not harsh, like some of Kevin Drumm's works, lots of stuff on Fag Tapes (like the Slither video in OP), Aaron Dilloway's tape loop-based releases like Songs About Jason, abstract musique concrete like Mlehst, bassy drone like Damion Romero and Hive Mind. 'Noise' on its own encompasses all these things.
Brief intermission while Oxidation and Tiger Smells A Corpse upload. Super big files.
>>64416738
Deadly. I would have kept it sealed, too. I fetishise that kind of stuff way too much to risk damaging it. Can't imagine the anxiety I would have had trying to open some of the enveloped tapes he's put out. Maybe it's for the best that I missed the Skin Crime pre-order ones, lol. Have those been ripped yet? I'm dying to hear the new RSE and Alberich/Lussuria split. Said it so many times before, but everything RSE resonates with me so much.
>>64416855
I've been looking everyday. Checked this morning and there were still no rips. Bed of Nails' Cities Outlined in Chalk with the new Christian Cosmos track never got ripped, and that was over a year ago.

2015 reissue by Tesco of the 2011 tape. Press releases described it as a "rework", but it sounds the same to me. Another personal favourite. Brooding and menacing as fuck; gets under your skin.

I wouldn't go that far but that has less to do with the quality of this tape and more to do with Resistance... being, as far as I'm concerned, among the best no-nonsense noise compilations released during the past 6 years. It's a hard tape to beat.
In any case, Coalition is very good.

Shocktilt, put together and released by Kristian Olsson of Alfarmania/Styggelse/Survival Unit fame. The 2nd issue came out recently or is supposed to come out soon, I'm not sure.
Special Interests, though that 10th issue has been in the works for years and is not looking like it's close to coming out any time soon. Not to mention that getting your hands on any of the old issues is gonna be pretty tough at this point.
Night Science, which comes out very periodically(the 3rd issue came out in 2006, the 4th in 2015) but is always fantastic and comes with great V/A CDs to boot.
Personal Best, which is done by Lasse Marhaug and doesn't only concern noise but is nonetheless tops.
I'm sure there's plenty of utterly amateur xerox operations going on and I'm sure I've come across them at some point, but none come to mind right now. These are the ones to beat IMO(alongside the legendary As Loud As Possible one-off).
Both in quality of content and production value.
>>64423675
Just remembered: New Forces is also putting out a zine of the same name though I've never read it.
A zine came out recently whose name I can't remember right now and can't find anywhere either. All I remember is that one of the features was an interview with Damien Dubrovnik.

Can anyone with a What.cd account be arsed to check whether a proper rip of the 1998 Grunt/Macronympha split LP is available on it?
The one floating around on Soulseek is apparently fucked, with the Macronympha tracks on it not even being the tracks from that album but something completely different.
>>64426807
Sorry to say it's not there. Great LP though.
Listening to the new Prurient right now. It's really, really fucking good.
>>64426931
Thanks for checking. I'd pay good money for a CD reissue of that thing but since Aspa doesn't have the master tapes anymore there's no chance of that ever happening. Hopefully a proper rip pops up eventually, as even damaged copies of the LP go for pretty retarded sums on the second-hand market.
>>64427023
Glad to hear it. It's gonna be a good weekend.
What would you guys recommend as a first harsh noise album somebody should listen to if they're interested in the genre? I was thinking Pulse Demon or Tokyo Anal Dynamite. Like if someone asked you "how do I get into harsh noise", what album would you tell them to go listen to?
>>64427135
What music are you already into? Are you sure you want to dive straight into harsh noise / HNW?
I wouldn't recommend Pulse Demon as a first. /mu/ has a strange tendency to parrot Merzbow's most infamous albums that aren't actually that great.
>>64427117
The second track will tug at your heartstrings for sure.
>>64427135
There's really no path for beginners. People will always recommend you a "first" with a more mainstream release, but there's really nothing to it except to jump in and find a sound you like. If you're interested in delving into the genre itself and learning about its players, then by all means, go ahead with a release like that, but otherwise, I'd recommend specifically asking about a sort of sound you want, else just jump right in, because we can't really tell you what you want to hear.
>>64427219
>What music are you already into?
I'm not asking for myself as I'm already into noise, I'm just wondering what other people would recommend for other people to get into
>>64427135
I don't think any one album would do it for all people, compilations are probably the best generalist intro though. something like white eye of winter watching or the broken flag retrospective.
>>64427135
Various artists compilations are what I always recommend to people looking to get into noise.
You get exposed to a lot of artists and a lot of sounds and ideas that way, and a lot of connections you can further look into and carve out your own path with as far as further exploration of artists, record labels etc. goes.
