My friend and I are trying to design a helmet of sorts for my musical endeavors. We have some prototype helmets that are geometric and pretty cool, but we are just trying to expand our influences to make the helmet more unique. Any suggestions?

Residents were cool but I feel the idea of anonymity is kinda cool, like anyone could be you, it could be the collected works of 20 musicians. Iconography, always more powerful

I honestly really like the design op. I mean the whole idea of wearing a helmet as a musician never made a ton of sense to me, but if you gotta do it, you're design is pretty cool. Just to clarify for everyone who keeps saying to make it higher quality: Yes I agree with you. These are prototypes made of paper cut on a plotter and lined with fabric so we can rapidly prototype them.

If you don't even have a single finished track you shouldn't be making a stage persona. It will most likely take several years for you to gain the kind of traction that necessitates a performance helmet. First of all you should always prioritize the music, then perhaps you can think about the visual language you want to use in your promotion and EP/album covers etc. Then when you've become a bit more established you can start thinking about live performances at the kind of venues where a helmet wouldn't look completely retarded.

if you could get some transparent black plastic, like the opacity of some sunglasses, cut out the same shapes and use epoxy to put them in the same place as the paper prototype, and then put some LEDs on the inside of the vertices, it would be extremely cool.

I wonder how it would look in real nice plastic with purple or blue leds along the lines...
or black mask with nicely colored leds...
but it would be fine either way, the most important thing will just be to get a nice finish on the material of the mask itself.
OP, this thread is really more >>>/fa/ material, because it's based more on fashion than music. However, in my opinion, that helmet is beautiful. It needs to be made out of more premium materials, but I understand this is just a prototype. Also, try a matte finish rather than a glossy one.

Find a designer, talk about what you want. Or go to a designer with a concept already knocked out. S/he might offer some suggestions for changes; don't be too stubborn or uncompromising. Then s/he'll walk you through the long, arduous process of coming up with a prototype, making a few changes, more prototypes, blah blah blah. You might want to patent the design. It might end up being expensive.

OP here. Just wanted to say that my friend and I decided to elongate the facial structure of the mask a little bit more so it is somewhat a canine/human skull hybrid. It will make the helmet seem less bulbous.

So going for like a Daft Punk thing? I like it, the tiled geometric shapes give it a neat silhouette. The tiling reminds me of some of the masks Kanye used during the Yeezus tour as well, which I always thought were great. Your prototype looks like it's made out of hole-punched construction paper so forgive me if it's actually 3D printed or something, but I think little pieces of sheet metal would really suit it, if it's feasible to make each triangle out of it, give them raised edges and connect them with little hooks or something.
Basically, I say take the idea you're hammering out here and run with it. Rather than changing the design, making the thing look more real would be the focus I'd suggest.
For those of you who keep asking I will give you my soundcloud. There is nothing on there (sorry), but there will be eventually. I'm sure people will shitpost that I should stop focusing on a mask when I don't even have an established brand which does and doesnt make sense, but whatever.

The black one is actually made out of heavy paper as well it is just painted and coated in resin to give it a more sturdy structure.
Also I definitely agree with the lightweight, breathable, and visibility part. That is what we are aiming for with the current prototype which is why it has holes.
