I liked a few tracks but this was a bit too frantic for me. I really enjoyed the overall textures, tho.

seemed like shit to me. strawberry jam was amazing, frisson with every song and captured some very bipolar moments. memetown pop parade lacked the direction & emotion and seemed like too much throwing shit at a wall. why does everything else anco seem shit compared to strawberry? listening to stgstv but it doesn't seem to be as raw as stuff like for reverend green or cuckoo cuckoo

Textures in SJ were incredible. They haven't reproduce the same ones in any other subsequent album.
I can understand that they don't want to sound the same from album to album, but personnally, I think they were at their peak.
But MPP has its own charm. I really really like In The Flowers, Also Frightened and Lion in a Coma.

Strawberry Jam is worth a try too. It just feels so good when you get it.
Listen to this a few more times, maybe check out their other albums. No two of their albums sound very similar to each other which is cool if you want variety

Definitely yes, don't let a bunch of fuckwits tell you it's "babbys first AnCo" or whatever.
It is quite dense but there is a lot to discover on repeated listens. People on here talk about Merriweather like its some top 40 simpleton bullshit but it's full of odd time signatures, layered vocal melodies and harmonies and busy textures.
Give it time and it will reward you in spades.

Honestly it's the only album i've heard that's worthy of a 10/10
I thought it was meh-tier until the 5th listen, then i realized it was a 10/10 god-tier masterpiece modern day pet sounds seriously
I had never listened to AnCo before, and I hated it the first time I listened to it. Came back a few months later and gave it a listen, and finally "got" it. I really like AnCo, but it's not something I'll go out of my way to listen to anymore (at least not since we all listened to the Centipede Hz stream together)
Listen to sung tongs and feels next, whichever one you like more will guide you where to go next. Their new album would be the next step if you wanted an even more pop sound.
