(brain use optional)
fun has innocuous connotations for me
which doesn't fit Raw Power
maybe argybargy is a better pick for this but whatever. I don't have a pic for that saved and its got some pretty heartbreaking stuff on it too.
Jenny Death
Well, at least before Centuries of Damn. It starts getting pretty feelsy from thereon.
>>64401434
agreed
This album is pure good times
>>64401434
I would consider Biblical allegories, foreign language, and Dada-influenced lyrics to be fairly "cerebral" content. There's content to think about in Frank's songs. Then all the rape and incest and death aren't fun topics.
I'm not trying to pass Pixies off as some profound thing or whatever, just that "pure fun" is not what they're about.

Agreed times 10

This album makes every rock and roll band/album OBSOLETE!
>>64402279
I really feel this too. I don't think anyone has came close to the energy on that album in a while.
Say what you want about Graves Misfits stuff, but this is my all time favorite Misfits album. I love Danzig stuff too, but this album is phenomenal.

OP here. My favorite album
>>64401739
well put m8
still, i think it's possible to listen to them with said 'fun' mentality, just not paying attention to those layers of meaning
it's a less rewarding experience, but it's fun
any Girl Talk

The Avalanches' Since I left you.
>>64402975
Seconded. All of the Ramones' discography is pure fun.
My personal favorite
>>64402917
Feed The Animals was my ultimate kick-back-and-turn-off-brain music at the time, I'll have to revisit it.
>>64401694
Their early discography is sheer fun condensed into sounds.
yaz
Id rather listen to The Who than Iggy Pop
>>64401694
Whoa, that's actually pretty good

I'd understand if you simply didn't like them, but can't get "into" them?
You know, I consider myself a low-brow listener. I like AC/DC, Ramones and Metallica's black album. And I love Pink Flag! It's as accessible as it gets, except it's very minimal. The tunes are super-catchy, and through the whole album, I'd be hard pressed to find more than 10% of filler.
Again, I understand that tastes differ and that's a good thing. I assume loud fast music is just not your thing—and it's perfectly understandable. But this album is just so fun and yet so smart, and Wire manage to perfectly mix the two things in one package.

If there's Photoshop equivalent of Holocaust, it's that album cover
>>64404235
>>64404235
I guess I need to re-listen to that. Fast music, yeah it turned me off, but I like Guided by Voices and REM and this albums comes up a lot in related threads and lists
>>64404286
thats part of the charm of the album
>>64404342
Sounds like last.fm kind of recommendation, really—meaning, the bands are barely even related.
Wire is not related to REM in any way—the latter is a quiet folk/alternative band. Also, they aren't hook-focused.
GBV is similar to Wire only in one way—in that they both write catchy melodies. However, where GBV is more Beatles/Who-influenced, Wire is all about raw 3-chord punk. As basic as it gets.
I have big doubts that Wire had major influence on any of these bands. Really, the only thing that these bands have in common is their relation to post-punk/alternative, which is a very broad generalization. By this logic, of course Wire is more like REM and GBV than Rihanna or Mozart.

Early punk was so much fun
GOAT driving music coming through
>>64402975
This is just boring.

This is just bad.

Wow, this kicks ass
>>64401694
yeeeeeeeeee
>>64405293
I know, right. It's pretty hard to find legitimately fun rock music today. Hardcore is punk reduced to anger, thrash is punk reduced to speed, but all of them forgot the fun aspect of it.

played with graves a month ago. He's a nice guy, but he's super conservative. He wrote all the hits at that time so if he's in your area check that shit out.

One of the best pure hard rock albums ever
Ronnie Montrose is super underrated as a guitarist
