The lyrics are still there and I personally enjoyed the stripped down feel of it. Felt more intimate. Now I'm sure his next album will be a more traditional return to form.

The lyrics on AO are all superficial and pretty much just follow the CVCV-solo-CC format that Mac is so fond of.

He wrote a whole album of love songs because they sell and he knows how easy this shit is.

We're going to have a different opinion no matter what but love songs are vapid by nature. The fact that he managed his Demarco charm into 8 tracks without any feeling stale is a feat considering it is as you say, all love songs. And I don't know what you look for in lyrics but I personally enjoy the fuck out of them on this mini-lp
