what do you guys think of this list?

I skipped right to number 1 and saw SPLHCB. That's not even The Beatles' best album. After seeing that, I'm not interested in looking at the rest of the list.
>>
in the top 10:

3 Beatles albums
2 Bob Dylan
>>
>>64390177
what's your favourite Beatles album out of interest?
>>
>>64390177
>That's not even The Beatles' best album
It is though. I feel that this list is the reason the album gets hate.
>>
>>64390193
Their self-titled album

>>64390230
I definitely don't hate the album, just my opinion. I would say that it's their most innovative album besides Rubber Soul.
>>
>>64390193
The answer is objectively Revolver

I actually find Sgt. Pepper's quite overrated as well, it is in no way bad and definitely a classic, but The Beatles have done better...

This is a reasonable thought.
>>
>>64390440
It is a fallacious thought
>>
>>64390434
Literally nothing wrong with these spots
>>
>>64390107
Never saw the appeal of Sg Peppers or Exile on Main street. I can't take R.S. seriously. But I wouldn't mind being on a cover someday.
>>
>>64390472
How so?
>>
>>64390107
this book was pretty essential for me when I first started getting into music, but I haven't thought of it in a while. Heard they revised it at some point?

I always thought it was a good introduction to the western canon of popular rock music
>>
>>64390512
It is literally just the bandwagon fallacy aka ad populum
>>
>>64390704
so fucking what
>>
>>64390704
>It is literally just the bandwagon fallacy aka ad populum
Nice strawman fallacy
>>
>>64390721
I don't understand how that's strawman
>>64390712
It's just tiring seeing the same albums in every music magazine's greatest albums list

Pic related is far superior.

>>64390668
Fair assessment. RS list is Western 20th Century Popular Music 101.

Also, RS list has too much of a hard on for Otis Redding, and >>64390375 is correct, leaving prog out is a joke.
>>
>>64390746
>I don't understand how that's strawman
Because you are misrepresenting our argument in order to attack it.

There is a difference between fame and being popular. Example: Velvet Underground is famous, but not necessarily popular. Same with In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.

The more you learn about music, the more cringe-inducing it gets. I don't even think they included Charles Mingus. They left out major albums like Unknown Pleasures, Y by The Pop Group, Husker Du isn't even included, Nine Inch Nails is the only industrial group in there, Can isn't included, they forgot Killing Joke... meanwhile they'd left so many spots open by ignoring major albums, and then they decided to fill those slots by including every single Eminem album, most of The White Stripes albums, and every OutKast album. The problem is, they forgot so many significant rock albums by bands like The Libertines and The Small Faces (whose Nut Gone Flake was one of the most significant albums of the 60s), and included so many nonessential albums from bands they were fellating at the time, that the whole list just becomes a joke.

>Nevermind that high

what the fuck

also here's the list on one page

oh, and one more thing - The Shape of Jazz to Come by Ornette Coleman was in the 300s or something, while the Sex Pistols and The Doors made top 20. That's fucking retarded.
>>
>>64390768
I don't get it what you're saying, pardon me I am a bit of an aspie
>>
I was buying a lot of records at the time, and once my mom, who bought this book, literally asked me why I would by music that wasn't in the book.
>>
>>64390818
488 Hüsker Dü, 'New Day Rising'

I agree with every other thing you said, though. You're definitely reinforcing my point:

Rolling Stones can get bent
>>
>>64390868
yeah, listening to Kid Rock's Devil Without a Cause is definitely the best way to spend your limited time on earth

>>64390856
Which part? The part where you made the strawman fallacy, or the difference between fame and popularity?
>>
>>64390943
I recall that Xgau gave that album an A.

Bob Dylan's best acoustic album is barely in the top 100's while blood on the tracks is in the top 20.
