What is that part? If it's wood you broke, put some glue in it, apply splinters in the hole, make it tight, and let it sit. Then you just need to drill a new hole where the old one was.
Doing this for my loose strap buttons from time to time.

Bit the bullet and preordered one of these.
So keen, just gotta wait 6 or so months for it to arrive.
Those specs, man. Always liked the Strandberg design, but I like this even more.
>>
>>64361522
Honestly, you've got a lot of choices depending on your taste. You could get a Markbass LM3 or a TC electronic BH550 if you want a light head with simple designs and adjustability on your tone. Or you can go for amps with more character like a Gallien Krueger, Ashdown or Ampeg.
And that's only if you're buying new.
>>
Fuck guys, browsing /gg/ and the web made me super anxious about gear. I used to know what kind of guitar/amp I wanted, now I'm totally torn between different models (who are not even that comparable) and afraid of buying a guitar with "inherent" design flaws and fucking every up ...
>>
>>64363125
Probably sounds really great
Fuck does it look tasteless though
>>
>>64361245
I like Laney but in the 50-100€ range, all amps are pretty much the same; decent at best.
>>
>>64363511
It's a second-hand.
A new one would be 100€ or over.
>>
>>64363407
Do you think a little mark tube would be worth the upgrade for 700 bucks over the little mark 3?
I kinda like transparent tone, but I also never had an issue with the typical ampeg sound. I'm just not sure if a pure SS head will be enough in the long run. I do have decent overdrive and fuzz pedals, but getting proper overdrive from the pre-amp tube would be nice honestly.
>>
>>64363493
What looks tasteless about it to you?
>>
>>64363549
That's a tough question. They are basically the same except one has a fully SS preamp section and the other has a tube preamp. Markbass likes to put tubes in all their amps and pedals along with the logo "Tube Inside!" which feels like a bit of a meme. But that's my personal opinion. I wouldn't worry about choosing a fully SS amp in the long run.
>>
Just tried a Gibson SG with that robo tuner thing, how the fuck do you play it sitting down?

The body is so light but the neck is fucking heavy.

A shame really. Really wanted to try the damn thing out.
>>
>>64363782
You anchor it between your armpit and thigh.
>>
>>64363689
Okay, read up on it a bit more. The little mark tube isn't actually meant for overdrive, they have the rocker for that. But the rocker apparently doesn't have the best clean sound.
I honestly don't care about their marketing, maybe it's silly but if the tube adds versatility or sounds good to me I'll probably get it. So I'll probably check out the mark III, the mark tube and maybe an orange terror and the usual GK/ampeg stuff when I have the chance. Thanks for the help.

One last question though, how much maintenance is there involved with pre-amp tubes? How likely are those to break and how often do they need to be replaced?
>>
What amplifier will make my electric guitar sound the same as when I play it unplugged, just louder?
>>
>>64363949
an acoustic amp and a microphone
>>
>>64363949
Try looking into piezo pickups.
>>
>>64363949
Your best bet will be a very neutral SS amp. Basically most amps that are meant for jazz.
>>
>>64363889
I honestly have no idea. I'd be interested to know if it actually needs to be replaced at some point. It's not a 12ax7 from what I've read.

Actually I found a thread where a markbass tech answers your question:
"1. The Little Mark Tube 800 features a single 6205 miniature tube, his life is about 5000 hours of continuous work, then it would be possible that it needs to be replaced (by qualified technician, Markbass authorized better). You can find easily this type of tube, otherwise you can ask us for it.

2. the amp still run on the solid state pre if the tube side goes down, but better replace the tube to have both the preamp options"

Would a keyboard amp be ok? Being able to use it with bass and synths would be a massive boon.

I don't want it to be too boomy though.

>>
>>64364035
>>64364074
Okay, thanks again. Guaranteed 5000 hours of operation isn't too bad in terms of maintenance. I'll have to see whether the tube is even worth the 200 bucks over the normal mark 3 to begin with though.

>>
>>64364232
I might be wrong here, but doesn't a keyboard send out a generated line signal? A keyboard "amp" would be the equivalent of active speakers then, the amp in those would not be suited to properly amplify a guitar signal. That would be the equivalent of plugging your guitar directly into the aux-in of an amp instead of the actual instrument input.
>>
>>64361148

Would I make a good Luthier?

http://www.tombalek.com/guitar_making/make-electric-guitar
>>
>>64364177
Yes, however the parts must join without any voids and must be clamped to achieve a proper bond. A very thin application over the entirety of the joint, wiping excess with a wet paper towel as the clamps squeeze the glue from the joint. Keep the clamp pressure on the joint for a full 24 hr. so the glue cures completely.

https://youtu.be/6DwA56TKWq8
>>
>>64364326
If it's too cheap you might as well just give to someone close.
>>
>>64364405
Or just use it as an experiment platform, make it fretless and give it some weird controls, like a reverse tone knob.
>>
>>64364405

>>
>>64364484

>>
>>64364493

>>
>>64364510
A guitar signal requires a high impedance input, which an aux-in isn't. I might be wrong though, I'm not sure what kind of signal a keyboard actually produces, but if it's a normal line signal then I'd expect the guitar to sound dreadful through a keyboard amp/keyboard speakers.
>>
>>64364279
IDK, I do know there are 1/4 input jacks on at least one of his amps when I set it up, come to think of it I think it's an Eden combo.
>>
>>64364513
I think it's cool for solo playing, especially on an electric where you can loop a bass part and play over it. But it's definitely niche, and even bands like Animals as Leaders don't use the bottom end that much.
Anything over 8 that's still tuned in fourths does seem really useless though.
>>
>>64364540
>1/4 input jacks
That doesn't say anything about the kind of signal it expects though. If it's line or normal aux I wouldn't expect it to be usable.
>>
>>64364534

>>
>>64364575
>>64364540
I just looked it up, yes keyboards use a line level signal I remembered that correctly. A guitar signal would sound super quiet and weak through that kind of amp. Turning down the volume knob would just make it worse. High impedance inputs are required to properly deal with the very low current guitar signal. They're different amp designs and they deal with (and expect) different signals.

Everything's cheap when you compare it to MIA. What makes it "too expensive" isn't that it costs too much to be worth buying in the absence of other options, it's that there are other options. I know I said "it costs too much" but I was only trying to be clear since anon said he was ESL.

When I bought all the materials for my pedal board, it came out to the same price (~$40) of a prebuilt, most likely lighter in weight board of the same size

I've only been playing for about 10 days.

I tried an Ibanez SR506 which had a flat part behind the neck and it made it really comfortable despite being a six string bass, I can see why endurneck would be comfortable.
I hate that they're patented though, no way to get one without shelling out tons of money
>>
>>64370676
I've learned the main riff for All Apologies, Disorder, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Celebrity Lifestyle, a few others.
Mainly simple stuff for now, my fingers don't hurt near as much, I've been playing for at least an hour a day.
They hurt like hell at first, now they're callused.
>>

Big news, people like different stuff ! There's nothing wrong with flat radii, and I highly doubt a run of guitar that's checked by a luthier is going to have a glaring flaw such as a wrong break angle.

Could any of you more experienced guys give a walk through through your writing process?

I can come up with good riffs just fine. But if I try to write a song with actual effort, I always fail.

If I just jam up 3 really shitty riffs in 5 minutes, withuot thinking too much, I can put together a mess like this: https://clyp.it/ecfq45r1

But if I try to write with an actual good idea and some nice phrases, riffs, it all falls apart and just stops in one place. Can't seem to move forward. Either have an intro and a main, or just have one riff that doesn't flow anywhere else.

I think maybe seeing a detailed description and thought process of how someone better than me does this might help.

>>64374401
It's a very Chopin/romantic progression.
You can hear that N6-V-i in a lot of his songs.
The other thing you could add would be a secondary dominant lika V/V. Which has been used in music for hundreds of years.
In the key of C# minor our V/V would be a really weird chord since there's no key of G# Major we'd have to enharmonically spell it and borrow it from Ab Major, so ultimately we'd get an Eb major.
One last cool chord is the vii*7/V, another secondary dominant. Which would be a Gdim*7(G fully diminished 7).
In nearly all cases of secondary dominants you'll resolve to the chord you borrowed it from.
So you could go C#m-G#M-DM-Gdim*7-G#M-C#m

That prolongs the cadence, known as prolongation.
Just theory musings, but make for cool sounding progressions.

what are some "hard" songs to learn?

I started relearning guitar a year ago, and already have mastered songs I used to think were hard like cliffs of dover, eruption, and snow, now I'm looking for a legit difficult technical challenge. I think I'm the type of person who learns best when there's a particular song I want to learn rather than just grinding technique with nothing to apply it to, so I want something that's "next level" not just hard, but something that will require technique or theory beyond the basic level to learn.
>>
>>64376300
Reading sheet music is pretty easy once you get into. Just sight-read something simple every time you practice. For composition, it depends on how deep you want to go. Obviously learn your scales and modes, but there's a lot more to learn such as harmonic relationships (tonic, dominant, subdominant, and their parallel minors), circle of fifths, counterpoint, part-writing etc. You might want to get some books on music theory or take a course.

Neapolitan 6th chord.
What that is, is a major chord built on the flat second scale degree.
Most commonly found in minor keys, they're great to put in as a cadential point or even modulate from if so chosen.
It's almost always found in the first inversion which is where the "6" comes from.
