That's an album you have to learn to like. I like it mostly because of Maniac and Hellhammer's mesmerizing drumming.

Dawg I love that album but it is by no means black metal. The riff work is decidedly thrash. Destruction has always had a tinge towards black metal particularly in early albums, but that is what it is, an inclination to but not an outright foray into the genre.

Never listened to what you guys are talking about but I'll just say that blackened thrash can be pretty cool. I listened to a Deathhammer (I think?) album one time that was great. I haven't heard a ton of thrash so maybe I should look into this stuff.

I already love aosoth, arkhon infaustus is alright, and antaeus is ok but sounds like they recorded that album in a wind tunnel and that's not what I'm looking for.
I've been recced peste noire, darkthrone, horna and belenos but none of the bands really compare.
Oh yeah and while I'm here what are some albums that sound comparable to carcass's swansong/heartwork?
