The idea of mainstream bands using the band name as the name of the album, is to make sure you know the album name when you know the band name and vice versa, so this is like free advertisement
The point of having the "main song" of the album with the same name of the album is that you know the album name if you know the name.
You mix both rules and you have albums that share bandnames and song name.
A similar reason is the reason why mainstream artists act on their music videos instead of actors, so you know who is the musician face/body is when you see the music video
Thats also the same reason why mainstream artists use their face on covers
