I would kick out Kendrick and Grimes newest albums and that Jon Hopkins shit, as really nobody discusses it.

the 80s and 2000s were meme eras that only your parents and those three cliques in school, respectively, like any more

this is the only /mu/core chart i have seen that has gotten it right.

You mean TMS, right?
>>
>>64311350

its a toss up between the two. personally i think no love deep web was the height of DG on /mu/. after that album was the slow decline of the group. while still very popular, it has earned its fair share of detractors at this point.

i will agree that the money store was a phenomenon on /mu/ when it was originally released
>>
>>64311301

100% this.

This board would be so much better without you teenagers bickering over the same 150 albums over and over again. I say we ban all passive listeners and /mu/drones who don't actually care about music but like to pretend they do.
>>
>>64311403

the key to /mu/core is you have to find the select few albums that epitomize the board over the course of a specific amount of time. this isn't about your personal favorites. /mu/core has to be the albums that made a real impact and a lasting one. there are a tons of albums every year that are very popular on the board but and you can make a solid argument for a lot to make the list but only a select few can truly make the cut

/mu/core is an important aspect of the board as it defines who we are. i think most people are unqualified to create the list and thats why its kind of lost its importance.

/mu/ has two very distinct eras. the original /mu/ and the post MBDTF /mu/. the original /mu/core has to be retired because those albums, while still loved, do not have the same impact on our board culture as they use to. thats why i think >>64311307 is so far the only one that has it right.

not gonna lie, I stopped reading right there. speak for yourself and nobody else, please.
>>
>>64311572

well that's what the original /mu/core stood for, sorry to say it. it use to be a sort of badge of honor to being apart of /mu/. we couldn't agree on anything but we could generally all agree that those original 8 albums was a good representation of what we were all about at that time.
>>
>>64310228
Devo is shit
>>
>>64311572
also i've been coming to /mu/ pretty religiously since 2007. i think i know a thing or two about this board, its culture and its history and can speak on it.
>>
Ugh. You guys have this all wrong. The top-tier /mu/-core isn't a "moo's fave albumx list!" It's supposed to be a list of albums that /mu/ reveres as ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE. Albums that /mu/ puts at a god-like status.

You're telling me that Homogenic is a star spangling master piece up there with fucking Pet Sounds? Please. ART ANGELS? Almost tempted to leave this fucking board.

It should be a fairly short list, maxed out at about 10-12 albums. Choices like Pet Sounds or even Radiohead are fine, even though I don't like Radiohead, but putting To Pimp A Butterfly is probably the biggest fuck up ever. Humiliating.

>>64311725
yeah Kendrick Lamar is fucking abominable. literally the definition of complacency is listening to Kendrick Lamar, and the same goes for acts like Grimes, Death Grips and Deafheaven.
>>
>>64311725
>>64311725

this. there will always be popular albums that get a lot of discussion on here. always. but that doesn't mean they deserve a spot. you have to pick the elite few that made a real difference on the board.

>>64311307
i like this chart
>>
>>64311819

i was a junior in highschool riding the post rock wave when i first discovered /mu/ and im about to turn 27 this year. this place was like a sacred land to me when i first arrived.

>>64311826
i personally do not care for death grips but there was definitely a sort of dg-mania for a long time on /mu/ so they deserve a spot. in an era of "memerap" for /mu/ there are a lot of albums that could possibly be contenders but i think DG is the best example and is the only one that can truly earn a spot. MBDTF is also in the same vein

For years I never saw Slint-Spiderland discussed on /mu/ at ALL, suddenly it's the greatest album of all time for predicting a lot of vastly superior albums?

1. These aren't important to /mu/
2. Lol fucking dropped

Stop trying to change the mucore chart, you end up making it shittier.

Saw this chart on the wiki. It's complete and utter bullshit. It feels like it was made by someone who only spent a few days on mu

There needs to be a sub mu-core chart to go along with mu core. There are albums that a lot of my likes, but not on the level of actual mu-core.
>>
remove f2, d1, and b3&5 and you'd be right on this
also >people saying grimes and devo deserve to be on this
add illinois, aeroplane, and twin fantasy
because those get spammed more often
