They always do something different but I don't know if I'll be able to enjoy new Gorillaz the way I used to. I think I was 12 or 13 when I first heard them, and I'm 26 now. Only the self titled one is amazing, the others are good but the rap collabs are the only thing that keeps me coming back.

A cool thing about a fictional band is that the real musicians can make whatever songs they feel like and then create a narrative explaining why it makes sense.
For example, if Damon felt like making a super mainstream pop album, loaded with club songs and rap collabs nobody would accuse him of selling out, because it's the Gorillaz music and they needed a hit album to pay for Murdoc's debt with the mafia or something.
