Sometimes it's still hard to believe that a band this human and pure exists in such an endlessly atrocious world.

Just found IT Crowd on Netflix I see?
They're alright. Can't stand their lofi early recordings tho.
Bought this off eBay for $15, my valuable hunting knife and game of pricks on this EP is their best work
Is their new album any good

I'm a huge GBV fan and I honestly think their new album (which is just a Bob solo album) is the worst Guided by Voices full length album yet.
Nothing on it is like embarrassingly bad or anything at all, it's just most of it really goes nowhere to me and it just feels like a third Teenage Guitar album.
The only song that would make my 500+ song long Robert Pollard playlist would be the opener, "My Zodiac Companion" (Though Bob's voice is pretty rough on the verses imo)

Beyond that there's a few pleasant tracks, but again, no real ear-worms, or undeniable great melodies I'm accustomed to from GBV.

Damn straight.

Nah, I don't know what the IT Crowd is and I've loved GBV for a long time.
I'm just in total awe of how they still manage to be just as affecting to me as they were when I first heard them. I honestly can't think of another band which does that for me.

But those are some of their best work. The thought that they recorded genius songs like these with no intentions or expectations of them ever appealing to anyone outside of their friends and a select few hundred weirdos who somehow got their hands on the records and found some appeal to(or a way to look past) the crudeness and shoddiness of their recording quality and performance makes them feel all the more genuine. The misfires and the half-songs and the weird audio fragments just make the material feel even more human.

Didn't find the time and the comfort to listen to it yet and I avoided the streams and singles for fear of taking away from the complete album experience so I couldn't say.

You gonna see em on tour this summer? Got my tickets for the Connecticut show. Maybe The Needle Drop meme man will be there
>>64295193
Nah, I'm a Euroman and they'll probably never tour here again. I believe that the one and only European date they've done in the past decade was some festival in 2011 or 2012.
Envious as fuck that you're gonna be seeing them.

seems that's your plight. GBV used to be spammed here in mediafire sharethread days
