Yeah just screwing around but you have to admit she's got quite a few pretty experimental things in her discography. Though even her early straight pop stuff can put people off because of her voice and how she sings. I wish she would do something else with a normal singing voice like she did with the Sugarcubes.
>>
>>64289638
She does experimental pop and electric trip hop and a number of things. What she does is pretty avant garde for a pop star though. I don't see Taylor Swift making an album like Medulla any time soon.

Does this make sense? What other artists come close to Bjork's level?

>Common things between Grimes & Bjork:
>weird voices
>quirky, playful personalities
>strange fashion sense

How do you know that? Every critic and their dog, many other musicians and many other listeners say that she's talented. Also you can see that she's talented through her songs. Stop denying the evidence.

>>
>>64290589
Solex is too weird for her own good. No good songs and a monotone voice.
>>
>>64290673
I don't think her voice is monotone. I don't think it's as expressive as Bjork most of the time but it goes up and down in tone and such while she sings depending on the song. And she's got some pretty good songs I think. What have you listened to by her? I imagine only Low Kick and Hard Bop since that's the only album most of the people I've seen talking about her have listened to.
>>
>>64290732
I listened to just one album of her, Low Kick and Hard Bop. Not my cup of tea I guess. I will listen to it again tho.
>>
Grimes is the new Debut and Post eras Bjork.
>>
>>64290796
Rather than listening to that again might want to try Pick Up. If you don't like either of those albums I guess you just don't like her, which is fine.

Her latest album is instrumental though (and also less electronic) so you could try that too if you just don't like her voice. The collab she did with Jon Spencer in 2010 also doesn't really have her weird singing style and is pretty varied so that might help too.
>>
>>64290916
Thanks for rec.
>>
I hope Bjork releases a new album soon. I think I read something about maybe something coming out this year but I don't know where that was and it seems too soon.

Grimes' last shows have confirmed she's a total crap in singing and a bland musical performer with any real interesting ideas. She's rather interested in make stage dancing and acting like a crazy retard.
>>
>>64293260
Taylor Swift is respected too.
>>
>>64293462
Hold on a second... Are you seriously judging her artistry because of a sub par show (it was very fun actually)? A bland musical performer? Wtf? She's one of the most energetic and exciting performers at this very moment.

Also she's not acting like a crazy retard. If you believe that, what do you say about Bjork's video with that TV? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75WFTHpOw8Y
>>

Yes, but not as much as Grimes. Grimes is seen as an art pop visionary, a one-woman-show, Taylor Swift it's just a mainstream pop princess.

I don't there is someone else.

Björk is one of the greatest minds of the contemporary scene in which to art is concerned. She has the ability to combine pure poetry, perfectly executed melodies, visual accompaniments that fit perfectly with each idea of what the songs represent, and last but not least, a unique voice that comes deep inside one and touches your inner sense like you never experienced before.

Hello, I'm a hidden instrumental Bjork's gem which very few knows of, because people are pleb.
>>
I like Bjork a lot but Vulnicura made me lose a great deal of respect for her. It feels impulsive and underwritten, like she ran into a studio to read livejournal posts. Very overt lyrics that pretty much equate to 'You hurt me, I don't deserve to be hut, you are the villain!'

It's shallow. A while I like Stonemilker the rest of the album is too sparse and avant-garde for the sake of it.

Vulnicura is surely better than Biophilia and Volta, and it's an undeniable work of genuine emotion and raw, heartbreaking attitude you actually never heard from her. Saying it's underwritten it's an adjective out of place, you can obviously not like it due to her avant-garde tendencies, but it's a god damn beautiful album full of intense, dark and cathartic moments.
