I still don't understand the appeal of NMH other than that it is music for people that have just gotten out of their first emotional relationship and have no idea how to cope.
>>64276046
wow you're so cool
>>64275989
It's funny because viper has a huge discography, and not much impact.
>>64276046
That's... not even what the album is about.
>>64275936
Slint
>>64276068
>>64276075
Not trying to b8 or be contrarian. I honestly just don't get any of the appeal.
I mean, yeah, I haven't deeply analyzed the lyrics or anything but it just seems like the same kind of whiny garbage that Sufjan Stevens is and I understand why that's popular. It's the same reason everyone listened to the shins in high school, they thought it was "life changing" but I just find it all so... I don't know... banal is maybe the word I'm looking for.
>>64275989
Nice meme but he would've had a big impact if he had been discovered sooner. Unfortunately he got beat in getting that sound to the mainstream by cloud rap producers about a year later and by the time people found out about him it was too late
>>64276150
tl;dr
>>64276150
It deals with the same universal theme of missing someone/wanting to be with someone but you really think NMH is just basic rehashed tfwnogf stuff? In the lyrics his obsession with Anne Frank is much more complex than he wanted to date her or something (would be nasty af anyway she was a kid)
Plus there are so many ways NMH differentiated themselves, most obviously the turn-of-the-century lyrics/artwork and odd choices of instrumentation

I know everyone on this board hates Fantano, but he really does hit the nail on the head as to why the album deserves all the praise it gets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB4kTLN15y0
>>64276046
more like people who have just lost their conjoined twin during separation seurgery and the friend they lent their copy of anne frank's diary to has moved to spain without returning the book
pretty much
>>64276150
lyrics are shit
it sounds nice and probably different
>>64276150
>the same kind of whiny garbage that Sufjan Stevens is
WHY IS THIS EVEN AN OPINION
DOES NOBODY BOTHER TO LISTEN TO ILLINOIS OR AGE OF ADZ
SUFJAN ISN'T ALL SAD FOLK MUSIC
>>64276728
how are you this autistic
>>64276744
It's just recently there seems to be more and more people thinking that C&L is what Sufjan sounds like and he has no other types of albums and it bugs the shit out of me. Imagine if people only listened to Pablo Honey by Radiohead and every post on the board was people saying they were shit because that was all they listened to by them.

More like little Spanish boys who burn pianos and jizz on mountain summits.

>>64278446
>>64281023
I listen to their earlier stuff, most notably the Ecstacy EP and wonder how the fuck that didn't get them over. 10x better album than Loveless IMHO
>>64280063
Technically.
>>64283982
apparently, they heard the "Milk Baby Snatcher" single by A.R. Kane
>>64276983
Don't know if this counts as a small discography tbqh
>>64283143
this
Only three albums in their fifteen years as a band.
>>64283418
a bunch of calgary-core post-punk bands
Unknown Mortal Orchestra!
Only three records. Their second one is very forgettable imo, but their debut and their latest record are amazing. Just the first two tracks off their debut are enough to get you hooked on them, and all of Multi-Love (their latest) is great. Love their music, discovered them during a tough time and they really make me feeeeeeeel gooooooooood
>>64275936
Cynic
>>64285316
they're a fine band and I'm glad they make you feel good but name one artist that they've influenced

But their second album is their best one. Its like the first but with hella better songwritting.
>>64286937
5 albums isn't a small discography
>>64286554
I found it quite boring. Some good songs, but mostly lacklustre
Joy Division

This
>>64275936
Tangentially...
Does anyone have any of the posthumous Hendrix albums? I hear some of them are killer. Would anyone itt have a mega for one or two of them?
The original Modern Lovers.
Only 3 albums that inspired legions of sound alikes.
