I had no clue they were popular, I just listened to the album and liked it.
I am not a fucking metalhead or have any connection with the metal world, in fact, I think most metalheads are as retarded as you can get, and I also think most metal bands are shit.
I have always lived in the countryside, and I have always felt that sensation, hardly indescribable with words, related to darkness, medieval times and nationalism. Its a mixture of ideas and things I like. Thats why I feel close to guys like Famine or Varg Vikernes (to say two opposite points of the same straight line), and thats what black metal should be based on, that obscure vital sensation. Everything else is shit in my opinion.

I am the OP and its not my fault that these idiots started saying mgla is shit without giving any actual argument.
In my opinion the album being riff-centered and having the exact amount of variations and the perfect spirtit on the riffs is part of what makes it great.
That with the the way the mixing and the mastering was done results in a sound I like, and if you add to that the lyrics, there you go: A good album, in my opinion. But I understand that other people dont like it.
What I dont understand is why they post albums which sound pretty similar, but without that pinch which made it great for me, and without such great lyrics.
