What are some other albums like pic related? I think it's way better than its contemporaries like Daydream Nation or Surfer Rosa because there's just this different kind of feel to it. I haven't dug into any other Dinosaur Jr stuff yet so I'll start there, but other suggestions are welcome too.
Sebadoh comes to mind.
Weed - Deserve and Running Back
imagine Little Fury Things but as the entire basis for a band
First listen to Bug by Dinosaur Jr., it's like YLAOM Pt. 2.
Then, move onto Sebadoh. I'd start with Bakesale, then III. The rest is kind of hit or miss, but Bubble & Scrape and Harmacy have some worthwhile songs if you find you're very into Sebadoh.
After that I'd recommend checking out Guided by Voices, either Bee Thousand or Alien Lanes. GBV doesn't exactly have any J. Mascis-style guitar shredding, but it's fun fuzzy lo-fi slacker indie that comes pretty close to YLAOM at times.

check out Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
This draws with Bee Thousand for the best "alt" rock album.
Disagree? You're a pleb

J Mascis and another member of Dino Jr were in a great hardcore band called Deep Wound before forming Dinosaur Jr. Worth checking that out too.
Worth Checking our Steve Albini's bands too. (Especially Big Black and Shellac). Definitely a different, more agressive sound than DJ but if you want really good, noisy shit those bands are amazing.
