Why are cassettes on the comeback?
Is it just a fad or is the market here to stay?

Albini-ism

Because we have Cellphones and Computers???
My fucking Nokia could save more music than your stupid tecnology, dad. -_-'

In the scenes where I see a bunch of tape releases (mostly punk and hardcore) its a cheap and easy way to have something for the merch table that won't financially cripple your band. The fans that want a physical copy of your stuff will be happy and you'll still be able to afford more touring or recording sessions.

I refuse to believe it's cheaper in this day and age to have tapes than CDs in both time and money

Yeah its not. It's just an aesthetic choice.
Which of course doesn't devalue it in anyway considering we're talking about fucking art here guys.

This should be the autoreply to every tape/vinyl thread ever
>>64253858
It's a minor fad
Tell you what though, a mixtape made on an actual tape will score you so much pussy if you get it right, I'd like to see a CD or apple music playlist get results like that
There's just so much room for getting creative with tapes than other recordable media too

That kid Happa makes techno by sampling cassettes, pretty cool
because people caught on vinyls are fucking stupid and too expensive.
>>64253858
they aren't, just ~5000ish idiots who are to cheap to spring for a real physical format does not constitute a comeback
