Love this record. It's genuinely one of my favorite hip hop records of all time, but I just can't seem to dig to pimp a butterfly no matter how many chances I give it. Does it gradually grow on you or something? What am I missing

I honestly couldnt get into this one, I thought it was donkey balls. His voice was annoying in it. Bitch dont kill my vibe is literally one of the worst songs ive ever heard. I liked TPAB better, thats not to say its a 10/10 album like the dickriders say. I only really replay 3 songs and the rest is forgettable, overall id give TPAB 6/10.
GKMC definitely has a more mainstream sound to it, TPAB isn't anything crazy or experimental, but it's definitely not as easy to get into as GKMC and there's definitely a hand full of songs that I could see being hit or miss with people. That said, I still like TPAB the most

Back I my day baiting meant something
I prefer GKMC because I can connect with the teen vibes (e.g. swimming pools) more than I can with black on black crime/oppression etc that features so heavily in TPAB.
Gotta say I did like TPAB way more recently when I gave it a re-listen for the first time since it's release. Very strong lyricism. My initial complaint was that Kendrick sounded like a self-parody on this one which I still don't think was fully intentional and is more likely an attempt to capitalize on what mainstream audiences liked from the first album.
