Is Beyoncé good? Every fucking girl at my university talks about her as though she's the greatest artist of our generation, but I don't understand the hype. I've listened to a few of her song and they just aren't that good.

Not really. She's a mediocre pop R&B artist who caught the wave of false acclaim given by Pitchfork to essentially any minority artist.
Her self-titled album is no more intelligent or musically complex than her previous efforts, it was just released at a good time and contains themes like feminism that critics want to reward regardless of the quality of the music.

But as far as being a musician goes, just read the credits on her songs. She's not involved in any of her own music further than the vocals. She could practically phone in her studio performance and no one would know.

She's an utter megalomaniac who knew how to market herself, and due to the backing of some powerful people, she managed to fuel the hype-train enough to fool people (most of whom are pretty easily fooled anyway).
Is Beyonce good? According to plebs and pandering liberals, she's a supremely talented icon. According to anyone who has any taste, and who's not afraid to criticize a "strong" black woman, she is absolute garbage.
