lanklet fingers dont count twig

I can reach the frets with my hand, but I don't have the finger strength to hold the strings down long enough to play
>>
>>64247524
How about you play the e (a string 7th fret on your pic) on the low e string 12th fret?

>>64247548

Capos are for talentless hacks.

To easy
>manlet hands btfo
>>
>>64247671
You change the key by playing it, no need for a capo, there.
>>
>>64247673
if it's "too easy" surely you can stretch one more fret, no?
>>
>>64247699
instead of tuning all the strings higher or lower you just put a capo, idk where youre going with that argument.. sometimes you cant reach it all

Yes
>>
>>64247775
I'm saying that you just can learn all the notes and chords there is on your guitar, no need for any tuning or capos.
>>
>>64247949
but sometimes you want to change the sound and if you want to play certain chords at a higher fret range, then you need a capo. there are many instances where you would need a capo to play certain chords
>>
>>64248054
there's really not, it's just being too lazy to learn new chord voicings
>>64247823
nice, I had to check myself after seeing this, I would have a rough time trying to grab this in a performance, but I can do it too...
>>
guys I just wanted to play fucking Dust In The Wind
>>
>>64247823
fuck you dude
>>
>>64248104
>>64247949
What about performing live? It's easier to add a capo in between songs instead of stopping the show and tuning in between each song.
>>
>>64248168
hes literally being autistic. there are times when you literally cant play a full chord without changing or compromising it if you dont have a capo
>>
>>64248104
Yeah, I'd have trouble doing this as quick as I'd need to while actually playing

>>64247949
Sometimes I like to put the capo across just four strings. Is that a valid enough reason to use one? I mean I could just buy a partial capo, but it's still a capo
>>
>>64247823
Looks like you are flubbing all those notes.

Nice try.
>>64248194
Not to mention it allows you to experiment with new voicing and compose new songs based around it, you otherwise would not have thought of. It's essentially a compositional tool.

I wasn't flubbing them but I would be able to do it while actually playing. I don't know how to prove it, though
>>
>>64248194
have you guys really never tried barre chords or any other myriad of movable shapes?
>>64248168
once again, no need to re-tune, look up movable chord shapes and alternate voicings.
>>
>>64248308
Wouldn't*
My mistake
>>
>>64248336
>once again, no need to re-tune, look up movable chord shapes and alternate voicings.
What about the ones that are not listed, and requite both alternate tuning and a capo?
>>
Why? You could just move the E (lower note) anywhere else and it wouldn't be retarded
>>
>>64248379
show me this chord and I will show you a version playable without re-tuning or capo.
>>
>>64248336
some barre chords will still require you to hit an open fret, which in case will sound like shit in some cases if the capo is not in the desired fret
>>
>>64248393
You mean a different inversion that will sound different?

Nice try.
>>

Nice backpedaling.

Try to tell me a better way to play this chord without a capo or alternate tuning.
>>64248526
How so?
>>
>>64248614

Index/middle on 8th fretts, pinky/ring on 10th is pretty easy, but anyone who's not retarded will just fudge the chords a little bit to make it easier to play since it will sound basically the same anyway and nobody will care if one of your fingers slips to 7th or 9th when it's supposed to be 8th fret
>>
>>64248614
8

barring the 8th, it is an inversion, but all the notes are there I think
>>
>>64248762
oops, the top number is the thickest string, bottom is the thinnest, I don't know why I wrote it like that

>>
>>64248789

>>
>>64248614
It wouldn't be an inversion simply tuning that string up so that you can play it with your child hands. It might sound somewhat tonally different but thats not an inversion. Inversions only happen when the root changes, this wouldn't even be a change in voicing.

>>
>>64248897

Then it's a different chord.
>>
>>64248861
Lol wut bro

Tune the top string up so you can play it like 7-9 instead of 7-15. No root change
>>

i can see your little bicep working it's hardest in your pic. dont cash a check your butt can't cash you talentless queer

>>

I have never played a show with a capo, makes me uncomfortable.

>>64248054
I get what you're saying and I think this is legit, although I personally never use a capo. Except my gf wants me to sing some shitty Ed Sheeran song for her.

>>64248209
I'm not God or anything, but yes I think this is valid.

I exaggerated when I said "talentless hacks" earlier. I personally just think a capo butchers my sound and limits my fretboard even more.

>he blew you tf out m8
Not really. The conversation specifically entailed playing unusual chords without the need for detuning or capos, so it would make no sense for him to suggest detuning if it was alreday stated that we were not going to detune.
>>
>>64249015
In addition, it makes me really sad to be on a music board and almost no one knows any music theory.
>>
>>64249065
It's OK to enjoy music without knowing theory.
>>
>>64249104
casual.
>>
>>64248914
Nope, same chord.
As long as it has those notes in it, it's that chord.
An Emaj7 is always an Emaj7 as long as it has an E, G#, B, and D# in it, no matter where it is on the fretboard or how the notes are arranged vertically.

I know, I didn't say you have to know theory to enjoy music. Otherwise we'd have to teach little kids about cadences and shit.

what do I need to do and how long would it take to understand what this thread is about
>>
>>64249296
Don't bother reading, just listen to some music.
>>
>>64249210
That's nice but I'm not asking to rearrange, change octaves or shift to inversions. Just play the chord is, as stated, with the lowering droning notes that create the undertones.

Nice semantics though.
>>
>>64249296
just google some resources on chord voicings and inversions
>>
>>64249365
well, I guess we're into two handed tapping territory now, or does the tonal difference between tapping and strumming change the chord too?

>>
use your thumb for 7, pinkie/ring for 15.
>>
>>64249210
An E7 chord with an E not being the lowest pictch is considered inverted which fills a different role in theory and is resolved slightly differently depending on the inversion.
>>
kek what is even the point
>>
>>64250899
I couldn't. I guess I need to stretch more.
>>
>>64247524
Use your penis
>>
>>64252039
Don't feel bad, that guys pinky would never move like that "on the fly" playing live. He'd at least lift his first finger off to relieve that angle. That's muscle fatigue and you can't do that live for a 90 min set.
>>
>>64251962
You're right. I play lots of inverted "piano chords" when I transpose Tom waits to guitar. They remove differently
