It is good
Painting With and Sleep Cycle were both really solid releases, however I prefer Sleep Cycle
Golden Gal makes me remember that moment when as a kid 90% of people tried their mom's shoes or dresses. Kind of innocent gender exploration.

This album is so overly sweet I want to puke. Figuratively speaking, it's like a honey which stayed up for a long time without been touched and you can see its sugars coming out.
The only thing I could see saving these songs is being played live with organic sounding instrumentation. As is, the only thing that makes it sound remotely like an Animal Collective album is the vocals.

In a few years it'll be held in much higher regard. It's really fucking good, just ahead of its time. It really was the perfect direction for them, CHz sounded to much like their old stuff which led to a lot of (justifiably) negative comparisons.

At one point white males made amazing music. Most of my favorite music from before 2000 was made by white males. Then they suddenly (around 2006) became completely irrelevant.
Sufjan stevens represents everything wrong with white male music in 2016. White males used to have bands to be proud of. Whether it was ac/dc, REM, fugazi, etc, these bands were good. Now white male bands are like bon iver and this guy. I feel so bad for the state of white male music. Rock is dead and this guy killed it with his preposterously twee, faux-deep, barely coherent concept albums that dont have as much good music in them as any given st. vincent or even fleet foxes song
