Laugh, but in the course of thinking about my player file structure, I just unified everything. So albums consist of songs just the same way genres consist of artists and songs consist of movements. It's all nodes of the same tree.

In other words, from the database point of view, it is wrong to differentiate between, say, a genre and an album by purported virtue of the fact that the latter doesn't have a publisher and the latter doesn't have, say, associated cultural movements -- instead, both fields should exist in the data structure and just be null when needed.
