Most of the time I make sure my scrobbler is on, put on an album that's going to make me look patrician if I scrobble it or put it on my top 100 chart, mute it, go on Youtube and start my Grimes playlist and actually listen to that while the album is scrobbling in the background while I post about post-ironic memes and my tripfag buddies in /daily/.

I have my headphones in all day at work. It's usually something I've heard and love as background music, but sometimes I'll put on something I want to pay attention to when I'm not having to think too much about what I'm doing

either i usually download something new and listen to it while on a bus journey. ive got nothing else to do except sit there, so it forces me to listen to it, analyse (?), etc.

or i have it as background music at home. headphones full blast, curtains drawn, noided 8)

I find leaning on ambient helps me to focus for longer, kind of stuff you only pick up on every now and then
