The way I see it with atmospheric metal, I don't think it gets hated on the principle of it just being atmospheric, its hated on the principle of how many bands incorporate atmosphere into their metal. Too many bands write their music in such a way that the quality of the metal itself suffers just to go along with the mood.
Good atmospheric metal is rare but when it exists it exists because it lets the metal and the atmosphere flow together seamlessly instead of dumbing down one aspect to put emphasis on the other. This album is absolutely monstrous both from a metal perspective and atmosphere perspective.
