low end budget guitars are going to be shit either way. that said - i've seen way too many squire strats with zero intonation/that can't stay in tune worth shit. So.. i'm on team epiphone. Plus my twelve string epi still does it's job four/five years on.
There's literally no reason to get a Gibson Les Paul over an Epiphone Les Paul anymore. The moderately priced Epis are quality instruments and are cheaper than the cheapest Gibsons.
