Folder Thread - Help me put more shit in here Edition.
I'm a music newfag, as you can probably tell. I need some fucking really good shit. Also, rate, rec for others.
>popular music
>>64210074
Well first of all make artist folders. This organization is giving me cancer.
>>64210074
use only 1 folder for artist because it gets messy later on
>>64210099
>Le music that is popular is bad meme
>anime
just stop.
Artist name
- [YEAR] Album name
>>64210128
>le popular music is good meme
>being an anti intellectual
jut stop
>>64210100
>>64210111
Will Probably do that.
>>64210138
Usually, I memorize that kind of thing. Doesn't really matter anyway cuz I put it in the metadata.
>spoonfeeding
Absolutely disgusting
>>64210168
So what you're saying is if there is a completely unknown artist that released a song you like, it would just suddenly be bad if it became popular?
That's your logic and it's fucking stupid.
>>64210168
Fuck anime
>>64210168
>feldman, coleman... the list could go on
>>64210224
>liking popular music in the first place
>>64210318
But if I liked it before it was popular, then I didn't like popular music in the first place you fucking idiot..
>>64210074
Since your just starting out your collection i'd suggest sorting out your collection
You could either go for the simple
Music --> Artist --> [Year] Album --> 01 - Track name.mp3 with the artwork saved as cover.png in the bottom
Or before that you could have genre
>>64210318
So high on being a socialite fuckwit stuck up your own asshole you can't see anything other than what you think makes you smarter than others. I hope you die unsatisfied in life.
>>64210363
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_music
Child. take your shit elsewhere. we have enough anti intellectual memers on this board.
>>64210366
or alternatively dont waste time on bs
just make sure everything is tagged (which is easy, if you download from at least semi-decent places) and load every thing into foobar and let it do the work for you
>>64210408
All art is subjective.
This is an objective statement and you cannot argue it.
>>64210465
What a hack
how do i cap everything in a folder? mine is too big to slowly cap section by section and edit pics together
>>64210100
>not organising by genre and having a separate folder for discographies organised by artist
baka
>>64210655
>labeling art
why
>that organization
>>64210677
To make it easier to find you fucking autist
>>64210677
what >>64210720 said, I don't even use real genre names (or I use them loosely to say the least) but this way I know where to look when I want a certain sound or I want to listen to a specific album
>>64210641
tree > folders.txt
>>64210655
Too much work since some artists can fit in more than one genre. Then there's artists that can are in their own genre. Just separating by artist is good enough .
Music > Artist Name > Album/Singles
listen to some of the stuff in here. its the essentials list.

also scaruffi is shit. don't listen to him
Quasimoto - Yessir Whatever
lots of original beats and interesting sounds, this album will grow on you.
best tracks in my opinion
-Brothers Can't See Me
- Broad Factor
>>64210863
I've seen the image before, but thanks for the MEGA link. You have been the most helpful person so far, considering everyone has just bitched about "popular" music or told me I organize like a primate.
>>64210863
OP, this guy wants you to listen to the same forty p4k-approved albums that every middle schooler on this board listens to rather than read some thoughtful and challenging arguments about rock music and learn to form independent opinions.
He's an idiot, OP, a real retard, and if you go down this path you will only hurt yourself.
>>64211019
Okay, then give me better shit. Validate your opinion's worth.
>>64211042
if you want I can write a lengthy post on how to find music semi-independently
>>64210074
>pseudonyms and diminutives instead of birth names
>underscores
>inconsistent comment capitalization
>inconsistent parentheses
>inconsistent capitalization of prepositions
>inconsistent notation of 'and' vs '&'
>inconsistent periodization of abbreviations

I'd be fine with that if you want to. I've been interested about this, so take your best shot.
>>64210168
you're fucking disgusting
>>64210366
Thanks Jeremy!
>>64210074
Pic related. It's experimental rap mixed with math rock elements and weird samples.

1) intermediatic references (a movie/book references a certain song/genre/artist)
2) go by genre
3) blogspot (there's plenty of music blogs that share music)
4) bandcamp
5) local labels (the smaller the better)
6) an artist you like's influences (watch interviews and shit)
7) rym: I know people are gonna call this a meme option but you can sort music by country and there's plenty of lists there
8) by theme (for example you might want to listen to albums that "talk about snow")
9) music books, especially useful if you're into classical music etc
10) random downloads on soulseek
I usually use only 1, 3, 4, 5 and 9 but the other might give you something interesting anyway
>>64211019
it's a mega link to gateway music. It's not meant to include every obscure band of every genre. It's supposed to introduce new users to new genres and
Rate me.
>>64211245
>no dj smokey
>>64211245
how many actually have full albums?
I have many artists, but majority of them only contain a few songs of that artist.
>>64211245
>No Pixies, The

quantity != quality
Hampus has over a TB and it all sucks
>>64211245
>all that VA
How many Various Artistes do you need?
>>64211402
2/2
>>64211439
Sometimes I like songs that show up on my recommendations on spotify/youtube/last.fm, but I don't feel like getting the whole discography from that artist.
>>64211433
>DJ Smokey
>Bandcamp nobody
Also,
>no DJ Screw
>>64211439
You're missing out on some great music in genres like funk, soul and dance music without them
>>64211019
Every album you listen to gives you experience. There is no problem with listening to albums often discussed.
>>64211467
Didn't like DJ Screw kind of music and if Smokey is similar, then that'd be why.
>>64211019
Even if Queen is normie as fuck, You're probably going to be listening to The Ramones, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Beatles before going deeper into

Got on that noise muh man
>>64210720
>>64210747
except there has never been a case where I said "man I want to listen to rock right now!" It's always "I'm really in the mood for [artist]". That or I have a "chill" playlist or something like that I listen to and it's paced in a specific way.
yall motivated me to sort my library
not a huge collection so let me know some suggestions
Jesus christ im more and more convinced this place is pleb ridden and not just ironic shit posting. Why does nearly everyone on mu listen to such crap? No wonder you rarely see good music discussed. This is essentially a 9gag extension .
>>64212258
inorite, why don't people like what you like?
