well i dunno, you like Jazzmasters and The Smiths don't sound like Sonic Youth so maybe you won't care. Why is your primary method of investigation buying physical media? Use torrents or soulseek or /mu/'s archive at rebeccablacktech or even easier, Spotify...
anyway, I recommend you check them out. Marr approaches each song masterfully. Morrissey's mope agrees with me. Really fantastic. Check out the Hatful of Hollow comp and The Queen Is Dead.
