If you want to get your stereotypical racist white southerner then you can throw in some Skrewdriver, shit tier pop country, and maybe some Varg Vikermemes.

Small hick town in TN here. Local radio stations are mostly Country and buttrock like Shinedown, Saving Abel, Breaking Benjamin etc. The big local club in my town brings in acts like ICP, Mushroomhead and Otep. Nu Metal is still real popular around here.
Kurt Vile, Steve Earle, Wilco, Sufjan Stevens, Yo La Tengo, Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown, The Grateful Dead, Emmylou Harris, Bruce Springsteen, and Lucinda Williams.
>>64209390
Post some local nu metal bands, I want to see the people that still play that stuff.
Went to an SEC school. Literally only top 40 hip-hop/that flavor of the month hip-hop song
Bars only played hip-hop during peak hours. Fraternity parties only played top 40 hip-hop. Spring parties were straight up just hip-hop artists except for one had a country band as a headliner.
I heard country maybe a few times but no where near as much as fucking top fucking forty hip-hop.
Jam bands too. I don't think I've come across more Grateful Dead fans than I did going to school in the south
>>64209146
>not squeal like a pig
>>64209390
Just like any other hick town. 20 years behind everything and fine with it.
>>64209487
I can't think of any local bands off the top of my head but the biggest act in my area right now is probably this girl Clairity. She's not nu metal tho more like indie pop like Lorde or something.

Buttrock, much like hair metal, is a scene that will fight to its last breath to stay alive. The people who supported this shit 15 years ago are still adamantly supporting it today.
>>64212075

Scott Stapp in 2016? And wtf is Led Zepplin 2?
I'm from a medium sizedsouthern city with a slightly black majority. Rap seems to be the most popular by far among my generation. Even in my mostly white neighborhood, most of my friends started listening to music with rap and eventually came back around to it if they had an emo phase or something. When I moved to college in a more rural area, I heard a lot more country though. I heard kids talking about country for the first time when I went to a private school in 10th grade. Most of those kids were from the furthest out suburbs with well off families.
Why is the south so comfy? If I ever migrate to the US it's definitively gonna be the south
texan hurr, howdy y'all.
i grew up around Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, the Pogues and especially Marty Robbins. But like others have said, most of what you'll hear is pop-country and trappish stuff. Really puts the great music of this state to shame.
>>64214876
It really isn't
>>64214876
It's really no more comfy than the rest of the US, it's just been so romanticized.
im from the ''cajun country'' part of louisiana, its mostly country music, nu metal, or top 40 pop
>>64207850
Shit dude this is accurate
