correct, when you think of it most music is actually edm. most jazz is totally edm, classical is probably also edm. some folk music is but most of it's like experimental music

your description of EDM is spot on but your description of IDM is spotty
there's plenty of IDM that is complex af and demanding of mental attention and that is hard to slip out of conscious awareness that does not satisfy the ambient part of ambient techno. and then also that complex stuff often doesn't derive its percussion from jungle/dnb/breaks. also IDM isn't a term anybody from the original IDM scene identifies with, even those who fit your tidy description. Shit is fucked! A term we'd be wise to stay away from. But since all that EDM shit is garbage it's fine if we stay away from the music and embrace the term as a pejorative descriptor.
