Any sophistipop fans here? It's a heavily polished fusion of soul, jazz, funk, and new wave that saw its peak in the mid-Eighties.
Some examples:
Prefab Sprout
Sade
Level 42
The Blue Nile
Matt Bianco
Scritti Politti
Swing Out Sister
Johnny Hates Jazz
The Style Council
Basia
Simply Red
ABC
Spandau Ballet
so....basically office rock/yuppie pop?

is this one of those fake rym genres

It's a real genre

it's not so much "fake" as the genre got classified well after the fact. Some New Wave/Synthpop bands that used more Funk/Soul elements and generally had a much more polished sound than their peers got lumped into the "Sophisti-pop" classification. The name for the genre didn't exist when the music was being made, though.
i just call it adult contemporary
This genre was confusing, it didn't really have a place anywhere
It was way too polished and creative for the Adult Contemporary crowd
It was too white and clean cut for the black crowd
It was too conformist and pacifying for the New Wave crowd
how can someone not like this
