U2
>>64187220
Beatles
Placebo, this song in particular https://youtu.be/DHQngnnHE_0
Pendulum
No bully
Queen
I was 11 and I just listened to a couple of the best known songs over and over again
then I listened to Nirvana's 15 Classis Songs and all hell broke loose
It's kind funny, but... Bob Marley... I hadn't ever even smoked pot nor was I interested in rastafarism/reggae/pot...
Lordi, The arockalypse was the first shit i fell in love with.
Prodigy
>>64187220
RHCP, I think i listened to Californication the song at least 50 times a day 6 years ago.
well it was Green Day when I was 15, but I only really listened to music for a few months then
wasn't until 19 that I got back into music and that was because of Stevie Nicks
>>64187220
I don't remember. I was about 24 at the time. I think it was through KC's debut, then Yes and further into Prog Archives. But it is a years-wide haze, like everything in my life.
>>64187220
Not a band but the Ubiktune netlabel was pretty cool to find in middle school, especially for their early compilations which introduced me to Zan-zan-zawa-veia
>>64187308
You don't get bullied unless you still think they're particularly good
My grandpa gave me Paranoid when I was 9. It was gg after that
AC/DC
Daft Punk
Smash Mouth
I'm not even joking
Coldplay
Paramore.
Probably Nirvana.
Washington here.
Raised in the days of grunge.
First music purchase- System of a Down, Toxicity and Linkin Park, Hybrid Theory.
Right in time for my edge phase.
Radiohead, honestly.
Nirvana and Green Day
Luckily I started searching for the bands that influenced them
Muse and this album in particular
Space Dementia and Citizen Erased just blew my head right off
Disturbed or Avenged Sevenfold.I swear if I used last.fm back then each of them would have at least 2000 scrobbles each.
>>64187220
pixies
>>64187220
The fall and sick of it all. No fucking joke. I grew up with my dad playing this and me singing along to every lyric. I couldn't even speak english.
>>64188946
You have to go back.
>>64187220
weird way to get into music
>>64189007
Go back to where? I've been living in the Netherlands all my life nigga
>>64187928
>You don't get bullied unless you still think they're particularly good
ok I'm safe then
Green day
Still love them
>>64188013
me too m8
When I was a kid I listen to just a few bands, mostly my taste was influenced by my sister.
RHCP, Blink 182, Fenix tx, Backstreet boys and nsync, linkin park and Sum 41
That was it
Then my dad showed me classic rock a little after that
Pink Floyd, Rush. Led Zep, queen, Ted, sabbath and ozzy, Styx, etc
And my mom showed me 80s
Like GnR, John mellencamp, rod Stewart, foreigner, van halen, def leppard, a flock of seagulls
But then I discovered Metallica in 8th grade and for a few years I was a metalhead, shit like slayer, demilich, morbid angel, death, iron maiden, gojira, as blood runs black, etc
But that boom in metal (bc I thought I hated metal) made me a music fan. Branching off and trying new shit.
Nick drake, Alice in chains, nirvana, biggie, silversun pickups, REM, Elliott smith and Benoit pioulard. And now I'm here.
So you can fuck off with that trolling shit when I tell you it was Metallica that got me into music
>>64188790
me 2 boyo
>>64189051
I remember discovering pic related once I left 8th Grade. It's been my most listened-to album ever since then.
Queen
>>64187863
yep
still love em now
System of a Down when I was like 10 years old.
I heard the song Chop Suey! in the TV and that song got me, even though its fucking shit.
Opeth 4 years ago, i'm 23 and i missed the nu-metal phase most of my friends went through during high school.
>>64187239
Same here.
>>64189299
nice come up anon, i myself never really looked deep into it until i was 18 and my best friend knew a shit ton about music and always made fun of my taste
>>64187220
Wolfmother :(
>>64188790
Same. I think it helped me, since they are pretty good entry level "different" music. Helped broaden my horizons and whatnot.
>>64189051
same
i was 7 when i got into aphex twin
>>64187220
Same here OP. First album I listened to all the way through was The Singles 81-85 compilation when I was 5 years old. Still love them.
My parents first date was also a depeche mode concert so I probably owe them my existence.
>>64187220
>>64191402
my parents listen to fucking bro country and elvis :(
>>64191402
Same. Except it was the 86-98 album for me. I probably listened to the remixes on it about a hundred times.
>>64191679
I listened to that too but I remember liking the first one better for some reason as a kid. Probably because the songs were way poppier.
Radiohead.
Still listen to them today.
>>64189597
SOAD is actually good though, especially that song you silly faggot.
I never really went out and sought music to listen to until 8th and 9th grade. Then I discovered SOAD and Van Halen. I still have the CDs and jam out to them in my car pretty regularly
Either Faithless, Radiohead or Massive Attack I'd say
My music taste has expanded but most (not all) of it stems from one of those three
When I first listened to Siamese Dream, it made me realise that, shit, there are a lot of damn good songs that aren't just singles
neon ballrom/diorama silverchair
>>64187303
although placebo definitely gave me my love of bad singers
It was this album
The Fall Out Boy was the band that got me into music back at 06. I was 10, so please excuse my shitty taste in music... Tiffany blews is a good song.
>>64187308
my nigga
Soda Stereo
AnCo
YMO
Daft Punk's Discovery and Random Access Memories
>>64187220
Nine Inch Nails. The fact that the music was so sonically dense and rewarded close attention really shaped my listening habits ever since. Also TDS being such a cohesive album got me into the album as an art form.
>>64187220
Gorillaz got me into "music", Radiohead got me into music and Faust got me into musiqué
Green mother fucking day
metallica
Van Halen
Guns N' Roses
The Who. And it was in the 70s.
>>64187239
same
R.E.M.
>>64192631
nice
It depends. The first artist I loved would probably be Johnny Cash or John Denver in elementary school. But it wasn't until junior high when I discovered Pink Floyd that I became as obsessed with music as I am now. I can draw a direct line from PF to present day, but Cash & Denver were isolated things.
>>64194079
Great album
Artist Michael Jackson
Band, probably Guns N' Roses
>>64187220
Green Day, and The Strokes
>>64187863
It seems that everything else I listen to just falls flat now. I always end up coming back to Pink Floyd. Do any of you guys have some suggestions for some other music?
Good vibes from this thread. I started with the Beatles after starting high school and then had a bit of a dad rock phase. After a year I started branching out and eventually found /mu/
The antlers
system of a down
>>64187220
>>64188013
