haven't heard any of those, do you think I'd like any of them?
>>
>>64182614
Third Law is like Arca but less eventful and darker

TLOP isn't consistent in the slightest, but there are some real fun/interesting picks on there.

How to dance is country

Varmints is vaguely minimal experimental electronic music that makes sudden dips into pop, sorta like holly herndon does on her newest album.

Moth is accessible synthpop

Painting with is quirky

so far been a good year, I like it. Trembling Air is my AOTY, the Pleasure Model album caught me by surprise, and I'm looking forward to the Torn Hawk release on Editions Mego.

>>64182614
gonna give sound of ceres album a third listen today
>>
>>64182732
Yeah, I've been listening to their previous albums religiously the past couple of days
Fuck, I'd forgotten how good Unsilent Death is. Everyone blows it off as a "trendy" poser album but no way, the hatred sounds way too authentic for that
New song is great too

>>64182758
Hmm I don't really know if I like it all that much, I loved their stuff as Candy Claws but I think that SoC is just a 6/10
I might replace it with the new Cult of Luna album on my AOTY chart no idea
It's pretty though, I'll have to give it that
>>
>>64182744
I did much enjoy traditional synth. The breakcore influence on dotty techno was a brilliant collision. I just wish he had been more ambitious about it
>>64182758
I should give Trembling Air a listen. Props for the Body, that's a very interesting project. I've heard it 3 times and still haven't reached a conclusion on what to rate it.

I couldn't fucking stand BBF but I can respect what you saw in it. Some of the production is fantastic. The lyrics were just complete bullshit for a lot of it and the vocal inflection was unbearably flat. And of course This makes me proud to be British made me want to stab myself in the head repeatedly
>>
>>64182734
I really like New Christmas Classics. Good to see it getting posted.
>>
>>64182784
Ya people on here in a genre that's not very popular tend to shoot down anything that gets slightly popular regardless of quality. Both are great projects tho. I too prefer Unsilent Death. The guitar riffs on that are just pure volatile anger, it's great
>>
>>64182875
its pretty great i dont know why everyone jerks off over Sea When Absent and completely ignores NCC
>>
>>64182902
I don't know I liked NCC and Planning Weed but Sea When Absent is one of my absolute favourite pop albums of all time, it's so happy and full of energy
I don't think they'll ever make an album that sprawling again
>>
>>
>>64183027
can you give the names and artists of these albums?
>>
>>64182698
>>64182714
Why do you rate albums that way?
>>
>>64183043
I initially did a .5 to 1 to 1.5 so on scale, but I found that it wasn't nearly definitive enough, and I'd have like 40 albums with the same score that I clearly had formed a strong preference of some over others.

I view it as a likert scale, where a project better than a 7 but worse than a 7.5 say is ranked according to how strongly I liked it within that space from 1-5, or in this case .1-.5. I know it seems overly complicated but it's actually far better for me than the headache of giving two albums the same score when they're so widely different in quality
>>
>>64183036
$$$tag$$$ - crowd surfing
body san- shining the money ball
bwana - capsule's pride

cocaine jesus - we're worried about you
diamondstein - the ridges
Född Död – oн нe мoжeт любить тeбя бoльшe

immune - breathless
perfume advert - foreverware
secret boyfriend - memory care unit
>>
>>64182758
neat neat neat chart i'll have to grab the five or so i don't know because i love all the rest (well minus diiv)
>>
>>64182698
How the hell do you listen to so many albums
>>
>>64183395
We're over four months into the year, that's not really a ton of albums.
>>
>>64183378
>minus DIIV

kek agreed
>>64183395
I'm a student so I listen to music while I study a good bit(only less distracting albums like ambient/simple rock like Weezer that I don't have to think about), but it's pretty much my main activity when I get free time. I'm also walking around campus a lot which makes it easy to listen to albums while I walk
>>
My top 3

Renato P - Untitled
Mown - Coeur Du Triangle
Skee Mask - Shred
>>
Human Performance
Varmints
Vroom Vroom EP

kind of a shit few months
>>
>>64183490
That too, I've kinda been slacking this year compared to 2015. It's also been a little less fruitful though. Last year was insane

why is there never any love for Pillar Point's new album? shit is so fucking good

Pillar Point - Marble Mouth
>synth pop, produced by guys from Of Montreal, sounds like a crossbreed of LCD Soundsystem, Of Montreal, with a touch of Low era David Bowie

What's the cutest album of the year so far?
Flowers and Lightning in a Twilight Hour are the only cute albums I've really liked so far.
>>
>>64183969
https://florist.bandcamp.com/album/the-birds-outside-sang this is pretty cute, and generally really good imo
>>
>>64183864
boris' side was the best set of songs they've done in a while, and merzbow's was some of his coolest, most progressive stuff since merzbient.

the gimmick of playing them together is horseshit tho

I was intending to listen to as many albums as I can but I started to be quite tired with this. idk rec me something, please
>>
>>64184410
I still haven't found time to listen to that David Thomas Broughton album but I'm glad that I haven't seen anything negative about it so far.
Also, have you ever listened to any Jeremiah Cymerman? I think you might be into him at least a tiny bit. Both of his albums this year, Bloodmist and Badlands, are pretty neat. Especially Badlands.
P.S.
cute And Also the Trees.
>>
>>64184564
No, I haven't. Thanks for the rec
>>
Other than Bowie, I've really enjoyed the new Matt Elliott, Sturgill Simpson, Damien Jurado and weirdly Ray Lamontagne's new album
>>
Blackstar and the Drones - Feelin Kinda Free are my favorites so far. Really need to listen to more albums but right now I'm catching up on the Coachella performances I missed and rewatching the ones I liked.
>>
>>64183226
