If anything Wayne Coyne is pretty much concrete proof that there's no such thing as an objectively bad singer. He warbles beyond his technically limited vocal range, is constantly strained and out of tune, and it sounds fuckin beautiful.

Whereas that sort of voice was not widely accepted in pop rock until then. It's easy for millenials to misunderstand this in a post-9/11 world where we've all been bought up on pop punk and NMEcore indeh rock, but Oasis were actually a big influence and important in making punkier vocal styles more acceptable in the mainstream
