Gimme all your indie bands or artists who deserve more attention than they get.
Oh, and they mustn't suck (completely subjective). Also please provide example song with sauce (accompanying link or webm will do).

I feel as though (even as it is a tried and true fact of the 21st century) that modern music culture has lost its touch on finding talent, but rather focusing on flash and catchy rhythms and beats. We have lost our sense for finding music that tells a story or paints a picture where we get more thought and immersion in music, instead of simply providing a means for us to jump up and down like ideas

My recommendation:
The Active Set
From Southern California. Lead singer is a bit iffy but they have a real familiar feel. Classify themselves as post-modern indie with a nod to the punk era of the 90's. Here's a link to one of my favorites:

And here's a link to their bandcamp:

Now show me whatcha got!

He may be a bit more well known but Dan Bull is pretty good.

I'm guessing he is just showing off what gear he's got but yeah kinda douchey.

a bit formulaic but I'm a sucker for the genre and her screaming voice is 10/10

That's what sorta makes it even worse, those are all pretty generic run of the mill pedals. Nothing interesting or out of the ordinary shown there at all. Trying to impress with such casual gear?

>>64172292

yeah I'd be so impressed if he paid 4x for an identical circuit in a box with prettier paint on it
>>
>>64172472
I would be impressed if he had some actually innovative pedals like a Montreal assembly count to 5, or a granular delay like the red panda particle. I would honestly be Interested in hearing what he did with those pedals. Showing off your collection of Boss pedals doesn't make me want or hear his music. And ok, not many people are aware of the small time builders making unique pedals that are not just clones, if he had some unique vintage fuzz circuit I might be intrigued. But nope, just sad

that boss ph3, the green one, is pretty cutting edge for a normie pedal. The step feature is trippy as hell

The EHX microsynth and deluxe memory man are neat too, I was just pointing out that in the context of "showing off" to garner attention to you music he sure has some generic gear, and i would be led to believe he makes generic music. Chances are he's not trying to show off, but it's good times to make fun of him just the same.

OP here, The pic was meant to give visual representation of recommended band name. Yes the pedals in the pic are primarily generic, but what is to be expected from a small indie band? This picture originated from an article (more of a post) on emergingidiebands.com for the same reason.

However, >>64171425
shows songs representative of what the bassist's role is in the band as less of a sound taker and more of a groove maker. Of course better equipment could improve the musical quality of the band, but it doesn't make much of a difference as they usually play smaller venues.
Perhaps, if you explored their music, you could get a better feel for their style.

Marijuana Deathsquads

They combine electronic music with multiple drummers in a way I haven't heard before.

quality of gear used has no correlation with the quality of the music, was just riffing on that anon who said that the guy in pic was "showing off"

but on the other hand musicians that use more interesting gear at least have the opportunity to make their music more interesting...no guarantees though
