What genre is this? Dream pop?
leans more towards baroque pop desu but either one is a fair label for it

tf is baroque pop?
>>64170914
oh my god leave this board immediately
>>64171028
Why?
>>64170769
It's pop, but who cares? Why do you need to classify things further than that?
>>64171028
you kill yourself too, genres are the dumbest thing to argue over
>>64170769
>Dream pop
Its fucking pop music. Calling it one of these little snowflake terms just sounds ridiculous
>>64170914
it's all in the name, pop music influenced by the musical stylings of the baroque period
>>64171269
>Why do you need to classify things further than that?
so that you can find more like it, obviously
there are a million different pop records out there and the vast majority of them don't sound remotely similar to the stuff julia makes, so some specification is needed
>>64171312
>>64171269
The thing is that just saying 'pop music' doesn't describe the albums sound or style at all
>>64171028
>arrrrgggghhhhh they don't know what baroque pop is REEEEEEEEE
>>64171269
>>64171312
Ok but why does this album have so much critical acclaim? What makes it so special
>>64171394
its good
>>64171417
thanks
So, did Betsy know the answer?
>>64171269
Obviously because if "pop" was the sole qualifier for a Julia Holter album then you would essentially never find similar music because Julia's take on "pop" music is wildly different to say, Taylor Swift's or Adele's.
>>64171439
Yes, the answer was x = e^4
Holy shit, I'm listening to this for the first time.... the saxophone part on sea calls me home is incredible. Any recommendations for more stuff like that?
Julia Holter has a very friendly twitter

it's a good saxophone solo if a little short, not sure what you want specifically but you should listen to Blue Train
