what is the best arto lindsay record?
the one he did with the Lounge Lizards.

so it's the first lounge lizards release?
I like the 12 songs he was in on Zorn's album Locus Solus
>>64158866
yeah, self-titled. unfortunately he left pretty soon after that record so none of their other albums have the totally fucked guitar sound.

okay, thank you. need to check it out
For his solo work, check out Invoke, Noon Chill and Mundo Civilizado in this order
I really love the track Illuminated.
The first Lounge Lizards album is good and all, but not particularly an "Arto Lindsay" kind of album
His work in the Golden Palominos and DNA are also worth checking out, but Frankly I like his solo material best.

This is the best one for sure but I'm surprised /mu/ has no love for the ambitious lovers

just to expand on this because I think Lindsay's solo work is almost criminally underrated... I saw him live with Marc Ribot guesting on guitar and it was just fabulous.
I think he combines a give-no-fucks New York attitude with an almost bossa nova like vulnerability in his music
Here are three tracks I love:

>Marc Ribot/Arto
Damn that sounds cool. You see them at The Stone?

nah, Lindsay was on tour in Europe and Ribot guested on multiple dates - The Stone is certainly one of my favorite venues I've visited in the States
Looks like someone uploaded a smart phone-quality video of Lindsay and Ribot playing Let's Get Lost as a duo from the gig I went to - I remember being spellbound when Lindsay started singing and the chaos transformed slowly into a beautiful-but-rough-around-the-edges jazz standard, but of course the phone-quality video sounds and seems awful throughout, but here it is anyway:
