NMH is a good band and Aeroplane is a good album (not their best, though). Just make sure you don't dwell on it for too long. It's good and accessible enough to be a good gateway into other Elephant 6 acts and all kinds of music in general. Listen to it, but just remember that it's a jumping off point. Not a do all end all
Don't worry about listening to other albums first, just listen to what you enjoy, the essentials are a nice place to expand your taste
just go in knowing that his voice is a little raw, but musically and lyrically it's great. Holland 1945 might be a good place to start because it's a straight rock track
