hey /mu/
im kinda new here, so can you guys help me out?
I've seen people in threads talking about "Soulseek"
Is this a reliable way to download music?
Is it easy to get caught?
Im already on my second strike from my ISP for torrenting stuff on KAT

What the fuck? How did you go with pirating stuff from KAT so long?
Virtually none of the music I listen to can even be found there, and I don't even have obscure taste.
Anyway, have you tried rutracker yet? They are way more reliable when it comes to audio quality (non shitty transcodes and 192kbps mp3s), access to way more interesting and obscure music, and you won't get caught downloading stuff from there.

To follow up on this post, what was it that you downloaded that even got you the strike in the first place? I've been torrenting music for years (though mainly off rutracker and what.cd), and I've never had my ISP come after me for it. You must have the most pedestrian of tastes if you actually got a strike.

I use soulseek all the time, haven't had any problems. When you're looking for music you can see the audio quality of the files, don't worry about >>64140689

Are you really that oblivious? I mean, I use soulseek a lot because most of what I listen to can't even be found on rutracker anymore, but a lot of what you'll find on soulseek labeled as 320 CBR or even lossless is a shitty 128kbps transcode. Go through your library and see, don't be surprised when you've been listening to what is probably Youtube downloaded files that have simply been falsely made to appear as 320kbps.
