Go to some concerts. Live is THE way to experience classical. Make sure its a professional orchestra though.

recordings just dont compare to being in the same acoustic space as an orchestra. And its the traditional way that classical has always been experienced.

Even just the orchestra tuning up is a magical sound, let alone them playing great music, and playing it superbly.

I'd recommend just downloading composers catalogs. Start with Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and Mahler, and in the meantime, buy some books on the history. Radiomelasudas-beaumarchais.blogspot.com is an incredible resource for free albums (and the selection is equally incredible); having that said, it's important to inform yourself on the notable recordings of various pieces.

The more classical you accumulate, the more you'll begin to appreciate it. Most people are only familiar with the major pieces (usually the symphonies and piano music), but with most composers, there's an entire trove of chamber music that's worth exploring.

No problem.

Below is Beethovens complete works. And most of them are fantastic recordings as well. This one kept me busy for months.
