What's utterly repulsive is the absence of taste: people listening to whatever's hype, not really liking it but still listening because they don't care. That's the most annoying thing—when people actually don't like music, don't understand it and simply become retransmitters of "hype".
IMO, experimental/avant-garde albums are litmus papers of taste for a reason. They require understanding and actually liking music. If you understand and actually like Kanye's music or whatever, I respect you for it. But if you think that having Sonic Youth or Swans T-shirt makes you a cool kid when you barely even listened to them, you should go kys this second.
