Why is this album so disliked?
>>
because people are plebs and can't handle a cruveball
>>
Because autechre's fans got all trained for ultra complex beaty braindance shit and couldn't appreciate anything ambient/melodic
>>
It is? Everybody on here wants to claim that every Autechre record is super underrated. I feel like Autechre's cult likes pretty much all of their music. Personally I thought it was wicked cool.

Maybe people came to like it but I remember it getting absolutely shit on around release.
>>
>>64102789
Okay yeah, so I wouldn't know what the hell went on in people's heads in 2010 because I was a freshman in high school who knew nothing at all about electronic music.
>>
Why did they put a Koala on the cover of Exai?
>>
>>64102051
Fuck it, that's one of my favorite Autechre albums.

Which ae release has the best cover?
>>
>>64102957
it's a 10/10 along with Gantz Graf
>>
>>64102927
It's a guy pointing at his dick telling people to suck it.
>>
>>64102556
There's actually quite rhythmic shit going on, they just pushed it way back in the mix

>>64102691
>Autechre's Cult
lol, true. I always like the AE threads cause it's always the same people posting in them.
>>
>>64102927
the cover literally just says exai
>>
>>64105866
While looking like a Koala.
>>
>>64102927
I never noticed the Koala until someone mentioned it. Now I can't see anything BUT a Koala.
>>
>>64102691
If Autechre's cult includes WATMM they shat on it when it came out and called it some of the worst stuff they'd ever heard
That being said it is underrated, unlike Quaristice which does deserve it's criticism
>>
>>64104294
Tri Rep or Amber. Oversteps, Quaristice and Exai are up there too
Honestly even though it's my favorite album by them Draft's cover doesn't look too good to me
>>
>>64106069
Also fuck, how did I forget Confield, it has their best cover. I guess my cover rankings would be Confield > Amber > Tri Repetae > Oversteps > Untilted > Exai > Draft 7.30 > Quaristice > Incunabula > LP5 > Chiastic Slide
>>
>>64106193
Where does Lego Feet rank in there?

I'll actually redo the whole thing because I'm indecisive
Confield > Amber > Tri Repetae > Oversteps = Draft 7.30 > Untilted > Lego Feet > Exai > Incunabula > Quaristice > LP5 > Chiastic Slide
They really only have good covers on their releases
Also pic related is my cover for Draft 7.30, I think it might be an alt cover but I picked it since I liked the blank strip with the title on the side

That actually looks way better than the front desu, it just has to much blank space for me. Also I think my image is a bit washed out.

When are these fucking hacks putting out a new album?
>>
>>64106571
ah well i love the more minimalistic approach. i have it on vinyl, and i gotta say it looks great in person. kind of reminds me of something from the tachisme painting style.

this is my 2nd favorite album after confield. fuck what you've heard
>>
>>64111581
Is it 320? for the first link?
>>
>>64111596
yer welcome

the realest shit starts about 20 minutes in (always wish they released that "track") and then you got that amazing extended rave version of eutow right after
>>
>>64102051
Probably my favorite Autechre album tbqh. Exai, Amber, Garbage, and Peel Session 2 are up there for me as well.
>>
>>64111581
Are all the other live shows full of unreleased stuff too? I was hesitant to download their older live shows because it was mostly them djing their stuff.
>>
>>64111663
i don't think so. i don't think there's a 320 version but it's still pretty good quality regardless.

>>64111829
hmm, they've never just dj-ed their old material (except maybe a few shows from '98) - i mean they've played versions of tracks by completely remixing them or by doing different permutations of them (like the anti tracks in some of their '94 shows or io/lcc/augmatic disport in the 2005-2007 shows) but it's always "live" (of course some elements are pre-programmed) and most of it is unreleased stuff. most of their live shows are worth a listen.
>>
>>64111729
>Peel Session 2
really? i sorta think this is the weakest thing they've put out, even if gelk and the back half of gaekwad are great.
>>
>>64109446
I wonder if that was the self-titled track?
>>
>>64112176
Then I definitely spoke too soon. I'm gonna get the rest then

Also, I'm >>64111663 and it's 192 but I shouldn't have even asked since I was already downloading it and could have waited a minute for my answer.
>>
>>64115093
you can't go wrong with any of the 2005-2008 sets (though the audio quality may vary)

although it's not original material, the 1991 ibc radio sets are funny and fascinating to hear as well. it's just rob and sean spinning rave and 'ardcore tunes for pirate radio and bantering between the tracks - they hadn't even been signed yet. you can listen to them here:

Thanks for the links!

And yeah, I already found their Glasgow one on Archive.org.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSpS3TFS3P0

There's a lot of their live stuff on Archive.org, but a lot of it are them djing their stuff, which is why I thought that's how their older shows worked. But I guess not.
>>
>>64115298
And btw the 2005 Glasgow one on Archive.org is 128 kbps, so I might check out the other download links you gave to see if it's better.
>>
Oversteps was great but Move of Ten was garbage
>>
Has anyone downloaded from Mixcloud before? There's some awesome live shit from Autechre and others on there. Not sure if the Mixcloud downloader stuff is trustworthy though.
>>
>>64117730
MoT was actually quite good but it could have been helped by being cut down to 30 min.

This kind of thinking betrays a lack of understanding. Untilted pushed complex techno rhythms to pretty much their absolute extremes. To this day no one has surpassed those albums in those areas.

The difference with Oversteps if that is a relatively simple ambient record, it isn't ask that remarkable unless you don't listen to any other ambient.
>>
>>64125191
It's the one track I can never remember anything about a few hours after finishing the album
>>
>>64125412
The majority of Oversteps is not strictly ambient though, most of the tracks do having a rhythmic force behind them - they're just not necessarily the focus of the track. What's interesting about Oversteps is that while AE is the past have built melodies from rhythms (think Under BOAC or a lotta tunes from Confield/Draft), here they tend to create a sense of rhythm based off the melodies they've generated from Markov chains (which in itself sets Oversteps apart), in addition to the percussion already present in the mix. That's a neat dynamic, especially in addition with their use of counterpoint and harmonic structure on Oversteps - you almost get that sort serialist effect/feel. It seems reductive to just call it an average ambient album, because it isn't.
>>
can we all take a moment to appreciate that deep dubby bass melody on Treale
