Is there an album that /mu/ loves that's not
>boring and pretentious.
>"muh expiremental
Spiderland isn't really experimental but I've never seen someone try to pretend like it is.
It's also not the slightest bit boring or pretentious to anyone who isn't memeing.
>>64101602
it is a little pretentious, not to a bad extent but still
>>64101549
How is boring and pretentious a valid criticism for a music album?
>>64101602
>>64101637
>These fucking super land apologist
Here.
Also you got some shit taste OP, spiderland is great.
This does not imply to only just Spiderland, but to all of /mu/core.
most /mu/core really. Actually if you get rid of pretentious then yeah; most /mu/core
>>64101549
>>64101850
>meme shit
Might as well just have posted The Bloodhound Gang.
>>64101865
Devo is far from meme shit
>>64101602
what do you mean it's not experimental? do you understand what the word means?
I understand how Spiderland can be considered "pretentious" by some people for its spoken word parts, but to call it inaccessible in face of how many people like it is a bit stretching.
>>64101549
Flood?
Everyone likes Jamiroquai.
>>64101549
All of /mu/ used to love the glow pt. 2, but since the reddit invasion people are calling it filler or boring nowadays.
Some other albums that people just couldn't hate was the soft bulletin and you forgot in it people.
Spiderland is just a high quality post-hardcore album.
>>64101549
Spiderland, well maybe a bit boring if you aren't into it.
Welcome to Sky Valley
Pretty much any Wu Tang release
>>64101599
>>64101695
Also this
>>64102244
/mu/ (as a collective) doesn't really love Jamiroquai, but they should.
Almost all post-rock excluding Spiderland is pretentious and boring. Spiderland is good though. Also, there's lots of music that some people on /mu/ like, some nu metal is pretty well liked around here, like early Korn, Deftones, and System of a Down.
>>64101637
It's not, op just has shit for brains.
>>64102814
The only pretentious-like thing in Spiderland is the vocals on some songs, other than that is a pretty straightforward album; the post rock that followed sure is pretentious tho.
>>64102862
Yeah, I guess some people can't get over the spoken word vocals.
>>64101695
Modest Mouse is like the definition of pretentious. Isaac Brock is the equivalent of a first year philosophy student bragging about nihilism.
>>64102925
I wouldn't call an album pretentious just by one element, in this case, the lyrics.
>>64101549
Some of it is only one or the other
>>64102881
Their loss
/mu/ loves Songs for the Deaf, right?
>>64103080
QotSA in general, the whole radio thing is a bit pretentious tho. Still, S/T, Like Clockwork and Rated R are pretentious free.
>>64103106
...Like clockwork is definitely their most pretentious album.
>>64103158
And yet doesn't strike as such.
To add to this thread, The Time is Go by Fu Manchu.
>>64102244
If only.
>>64103225
>And yet doesn't strike as such.
The title track does for sure.
>>64101978
Nothing made by bands is experimental, rockist scum.
no lovey dovey shit
dilute! dilute! okay!
>>64103326
Why not?
Seeing as how those are subjective descriptions, nah.
>>64103294
How so? A piano ballad doesn't really strike me as pretentious, considering most of their albums close with a ballad/slow type song (long slow goodbye, mosquito song, running joke).
