I've never read anything on Noisey that was halfway thoughtful. I can agree about some things said against Sigur Ros but honestly if you can't vibe to Agaetis Byrjun I don't really understand. You can lump them in with other adolescent-core like Radiohead, Pink Floyd, whatever, but like them they made some actual good music.

Well I just finished Agaetus Byrjun. That was pretty awful. I was afraid I was going to like it, but just like all other post-rock bands beyond the first wave, it just repeated the same musical idea over and over, each time a little louder. None of the songs actually developed past the initial idea that was introduced.
I don't know if that was in Icelandic or their shit made up language, but whatever it was, it was fucking gross sounding. They may as well not have had vocals at all.
How on earth this band is as popular and acclaimed as it is is beyond me. I will never listen to the album again or any of their others. That was a complete waste of 70 minutes.
Oh, and Svefn-g-englar is one of the most annoying songs I've ever heard.
