This is the biggest piece of shit of self-masturbatory IDM I ever had the displeasure of hearing. It's like all the bad stereotypes of IDM condescend into one album. What an absolute wankfest. I bet Squarepusher thought of himself as really clever when making this.

It's the last interesting album by him nonetheless. After this one he just became boring as fuck.

Squarepusher is a really weird thing for me. I have a fucking lot of his albums, but I don't actually like any of them. I keep thinking, "maybe I'll like this one..." but the only one I think is genuinely good is Hard Normal Daddy. Everything else is just such sterile breakcore influenced IDM.

There were a couple of tracks on Ultravisitor that were really good though. Can't remember their names...
>>
still the best squarepusher tune ever https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYS8edMRgBg
>>
>>64098383
he doesn't listen to breakcore
>>
>>64098383
>sterile breakcore influenced IDM
>breakcore IDM
The fact that you're using such such ridiculous sub-genre terms compliments your implication that Tom Jenkinson wasn't a highly influential innovator, himself.

There's a reason why people will forget -- or have already forgotten -- every other penny-ante "breakcore" artist. And it isn't because of hive-mind.
>>
I've been a Squarepusher fan for over a decade, and this pop track is my all-time favorite.

>>64095361
yeah i get what you mean but it's a matter of perspective. like, even if i'm not into those "stereotypes of idm" myself, and personally feel similarly ("it's boring"), i sort of appreciate this _for_ taking them very far. principially i just love when an artist is being this uncompromising and ambitious, you know
i kinda like the first track though, there's a really pretty ditty in there

>>64098470
how does that compliment the implication
how was that implied
>>
>>64098771
>how does it compliment the implication?
Because both are equally absurd

>how was it implied
When you say that x was MERELY influenced by y, as far as I can tell, that implies that his music was contrived.
>>
>>64098415
That's not Papalon
>>
>>64097492
With elements of ambient techno and minimal techno.
>>
beep street is his only good song
>>
>>64095361
>he doesn't like Tetra Sync, Iambic 9, Ultravisitor, Andrei, or Tommib Help Buss

Pleb
>>
>>64098437

Well Go Plastic at least sure bordered on it.

>>64098470

I realize he was influential. I didn't know how else to call it; it isn't IDM exactly, but it's not breakbeat either. Regardless, he can be influential and still be boring, which is really what I'm driving at: a large majority of his albums are boring (to me). I still respect him and everything, I just don't dig a lot of it

>>64098843

b-but I never claimed his music was contrived. That wasn't even implied. I just said it felt sterile, is all. But whatever m8, it's all gud
>>
>>64099145
breakcore borders on squarepusher
tom's not interested in peurile children's music
>>
couldn't really get into squarepusher no matter how hard i tried, just didn't like his stuff.
