He's having personal troubles, very possibly health related. The guy who's filling in for him is the guitarist in one of Ward's other bands and an extremely close friend. I don't think Jim wanted to drop out and I don't think Omar and Cedric wanted him out. I saw some videos from the first show they played on this tour and Cedric was crying while introducing the replacement guitarist. :(
