Does it really matter if your Martin guitar or Fender ect. Is made in Mexico, Japan ect.? Any difference?
Japs made superior guitars, especially in the 80's. Fenders in that area are widely regarded as some of the best produced for a reason, a MiJ back then competes and in some areas excels past the MiAs that are being made now.
Source: Common geetar knowledge and I own an '86 MiJ Tele. Easily one of my favorite guitars to play, and it just sounds so right.

If you want super hit or miss quality, yeah they can produce some fantastic guitar but there's duds aplenty from the factories there, definitely not up to American/Japanese standards.
Also MiA guitars vary wildly in quality between companies, Fenders usually turn out pretty well, Gibsons are a crapshoot.

I was mostly basing it off of what I've heard about Fenders since that's what I usually buy.

The only difference is that you'll end up choosing either paying the mexican labor in the USA or paying for the ones in Mexico.

Pretty much this.

I've used MIMs since the early 2000s and i havent found a "dud". At least not like the MIK, MII or the newest MICs.
