this is akin to asking why local bands are shite.

the answer is twofold - firstly, the obvious. They are amateur, likely early on in their artistic development and thus not necessarily experienced in songwriting, instrumentation or production yet.

Also they are not an established act, and do not have the backing of any critical community. People like to act like they're totally inidependent thinkers, man, and this doesn't affect the way they view music... but it 100% does. A piece of art needs peer reviews for people to care about it. If Trout Mask Replica was a bandcamp project, no one would give a shit. This doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, but that is how the world works. Humans need their opinions to be validated and they need someone to have a dialogue with about music. Why else does this board (and countless others like it) exist?

Asking a question like this is essentially asking "why are any independent and/or new artists making music". It's a fucking stupid question and none of the music would ever be made if people didn't start somewhere. So basically, fuck off.
