It's been so long since I've posted in a BC thread that I can't remember if I've heard this before, but it is pretty cool. I liked the way the drums sort of developed coherence over the course of it.

I can definitely hear the Kishi Bashi similarities. Your voices sound similar. The songs overall have a very different vibe though, and KB doesn't really do the glitchy electronics so it still sounds like your own thing. I dig.

>>64058389
Perfect intro length. Digging the vibe. Don't like your voice but that's personal preference. Keyboard melody kicks in tastefully. Outro's great. Song doesn't stick around for too long and that's pretty cool.

Second song. Your voice isn't my thing. It's too tired sounding. I think it'd be cool if you got a chick to sing because the music is decent. But the delivery is really boring.

Third song. I'm tapping out here. Definitely think about getting more charisma or getting a chick with some conviction in her voice.

I do dig that your songs are so short though.

>>64058404
You're here all the goddamn time.

>>64058455
skipped the first song because of fuck ten minutes.

Second song. You sound like a goddamn cat. one minute in and i think you could do with a tall glass of harden-the-fuck-up. I do dig the weird background noise that comes in though. Keeps the interest. But goddamn your style isn't my thing. I'll do one more song.

Second song: better than the first so far. Digging the reverb. Adds atmosphere. Digging the weird high pitch moaning thing. Getting a neil young type of a vibe. not bad. But my attention span isn't suited for your style.

>>64058519
I don't do spotify.

>>64058708
Don't dig the album art man, that saved by the bell style ain't me.

Your vocals suck. You need more balls man. The octave is too high in the mix, maybe panning the regular vocals on the left and right and have the modulated vocals in the center.

You kind of remind me of the dude from the soundcloud thread who writes songs about socks.

Your vocals are so warped that i can't hear what you're saying, which is kind of shitty because rap is supposed to be about the vocals but i guess we can say that's what makes it experimental.

Interlude: sounds like ass man. Sorry.

Like it. you put a lot of shit into less than a minute, it's pretty dope. The second vocalist and or your other style of vocals sound better than the main one.

Your guitar tone though - you gotta work on that. Too much fucking gain man. I like the little guitar noodly leads in the riff but that tone is doing nothing for you. It's way to compressed and way too distorted. You need more mids and top end.

I did a quick look at your other shit and it's the same story, your guitar needs work but i dig it.

>>64058971
First thing - i love the artwork, i love the layout, i love the design.

Fate: Ooh, not my style but i'll give it a listen. I like the lead guitar and the reverb. Drums are pretty goddamn artificial though, organic drums would sound better.

You sound out of tune like a mother fucker as far as vocals go. But if that's what you're going for that's what you're going for. It isn't terrible but less reverb would be dope.

I'm not liking the structure. It feels like you just copy and pasted the fucker twice. There's no build or anything neat. No bridge section, no climax.

I bounced after one song.

>>64059072
that's my music. First album, was released awhile back, thought i'd share the fucker. My mixing has definitely gotten better on new releases.

>>64059116
Light Source; skipped. Personally don't have the attention span to sit through ambient sheezy. I'm not an ambient guy at all actually. Well sometimes, but i do know i see a lot of that ish on this board in general so you're bound to find an audience.

>>64059185
well that's definitely different. Decent tone. Decent drums. Music is a bit standard for the genre so throwing spongebob samples over it is a smart move.

second song - love the stepping on the beach part. but i gotta say, two songs of this sheezy is about all i can do.

Definitely earn points for originality.

Dude, thanks for the appreciation. I listened to Gota Fria and really like it, lots of good instrumentation and pleasant ideas in there. Dusty Miller is also really cool. Like The AAA said I can definitely hear similarities to Kishi Bashi, particularly in the vocals department (also sounds a little like The Antlers vocally which you also mentioned). Gonna listen to everything else and probably download this. Awesome music man.
>>64058475
I'm not sure how that's possible but ok haha. I listened to your new version of Terrapin Intergalactic and honestly the risk of abandoning the Talk Talk-y sound for a little bit more of an energetic feel really improves the track a lot. I love the new digital percussion fitted with the organic harmonica and guitar stuff, it really makes it your own. I could certainly stand to hear what it would be like with vocals though. Looking forward to it.
>>64058389
This is pretty cool. Conceptually the minimalist electronic aspects blend really well with the acoustic guitar.
>>64059467

Recorded mostly throughout 2014 and 2015, this is a compilation of demos of songs which will eventually end up on my second record "Homoti" later this year in much better, complete finished form.

Partly recorded on various cassette tapes (pre-recorded and blank) on a boombox in various shitty group homes in Ontario, and partly recorded at home on a laptop and cassette recorders, this is just a very long foray into my creative mind and how I love hearing and creating music. Almost cluttered but still cohesive and listenable at over 90 minutes, here is Homoti Demos 1991.

Doing dream

First song clips and doesn't really go anywhere at all. but that might be on purpose so there you go.

track two - cool sounds. ominous. dark. don't hate it. i dig the panning.

Not too much into ambient so i'm going on.

>>64059311
slacker. competently put together. not really my style but i'll check out a few more songs.

Hi: not digging the mix man, it all sounds like one big distorted mess, which can work, but it's not working for me here.

fluke: Not my style, but that's how subjectivity works.

>>64059517
Sounds pretty chill so far. I'm at a minute in. I don't know man, maybe more low end on the drums. It's mixed kind of weird. I feel like the bass drum should be heard throughout the mix you know? There's not much grounding the synths and stuff.

But i'll keep listening.

Two and a half minutes in. Maybe some samples would help? I can see that adding to the song. But four minutes, damn that's a bit for a time.

Wash Away: I recognize the sample right off, the lsd fifties chick. I dig it. I dig it.

Still have the same complaint about the lack of bass. And it's four minutes too. Alright. I can dig that. Two minutes and some change in and i'm thinking putting in the samples again as a place of foundation... that might help it out more.

But i gotta keep being an asshole to different people. Good luck.

>>64059567
intro; i like that that background noise ramps up after awhile, i'm hoping you use it as a crescendo instrument for the end of the song. and you didn't. I think that could have made it stand out as an introduction. Bring that second song in more.

Second song: Took way too long for the vocals to enter. Which kind of makes the intro song null, i think.

Paw Paw's songs: Aint my style. man. but i will add before i bounce - perfect album cover. i can imagine a bunch of people chilling in a cafe while this plays.

You could probably play with that motif and put the sound of a diner over the whole album.

I've seen you around in a few of these threads. Let's see what it sounds like. I don't know what the cassette stuff has to do with the music though, if i'm being honest.

26 tracks, goddamn breh.

track one; well,, at least you're expressing yourself. Pretty uh... meh... or, pry go over well at a coffee house open mic night.

track two: i'm not digging the vocal style but i like what i like and you do what you do.

Overall - pretty skip-able - good on you for getting two people to buy your shit though, that's cool i guess.

>>64060321
I'm trying to give out feedback to mother fuckers and sitting through a solid, what was it? three minutes of experimental sheezy and then a big ol ten minute songs.. eh, just isnt' worth it.

Especially if you're going for an experimental sound. I can't add shit to your style, i can't recommend anything about your shit. You're going to do what you do.

These other people though, they can redo their shit, they can listen to the words of unbiased ears. I doubt they will but they can. And if they did that they could polish up their projects.

But these bandcamp threads seem to be flyers more than a means of getting feedback.

I'm a fan of music. I spent years listening to tunes. I know when things don't click, for me. Are we to turn a blind eye to possible improvements? Is this supposed to be a circle jerk?

And I know it hurts being negatively criticized. It hurts putting your heart out there and getting it stomped on. I've been there, but we have to move passed that point.

I'll tell you my reaction because we don't often get that especially from our peers. If you're lucky, your friends will tell you what you dont want to hear, but they too see how much work you put in and will soften their words, or worse, let you walk blindly.

Abelian makes a fantastic point. I've spent my entire life listening to tunes, as well. We all have. That's a given.
I'll give you a little story. I've been producing music electronically for about four years. In those four years, I stopped sounding like garbage after about two years. Two years after that, I sound bretty good, but nowhere near professional. The singer in my band has been producing, as in audio engineering and not writing, for six years and has been singing and playing guitar and piano for longer. Our guitarist will give us shit for spending time on post production. We bang our heads against walls to get things to sound right. When we first started recording as a band we'd spend a collective 5 hours recording takes and the singer and I would spend another fifteen together and he even longer working on post production and the guitarist would just crap on how pointless or how stupid post-prod was. Saying you listen to tunes means jack fucking shit, bub.

Feedback isn't just about saying what you like and what you don't. It's about listening to what you hear, inferring what they're doing, and providing guidance to improve their writing, technique, workflow, or whatever that they can utilize instead of saying "nah, this isn't my thing". If you don't have anything of substance to say, don't even say "I can't really speak to this", just move on and stop wasting your breath and our time with lazy feedback.

Do I like to get stomped on? No.
Do I like to get constructive feedback? Yes.
Do I like to get unnecessarily shit on without constructive feedback? Certainly not.
