I don't even really care that he didn't like the album. The review just wasn't very good. I assume most people wanted him to review it because way back when he reviewed Koi No Yokan he seemed to have mostly positive feelings about the band, but this review instead mostly complains about how he was never a fan. That would have been better saved for his monthly recap of albums he didn't make full videos of. Nothing he says here is particularly constructive and he only talks about two tracks here in detail.

Listen to White Pony first. If you like that, try out Diamond Eyes. If you like that, try out Gore. Personally I like the band due to how heavily textured their metal riffs are, and Chino's vocals are soaring and distinct. They're not for everyone but they're easily one of those older bands that never compromised, maintain their unique style and have evolved really well into the current age unlike many of their peers.

don't listen to that other guy, listen to their first album Adrenaline first (it's a personal favorite of mine anyways, underrated as fuck imo). Save White Pony for either 2nd or 3rd. If you do it 3rd, you may as well listen to Around the Fur 2nd, otherwise check out one of their more recent albums Diamond Eyes or Koi No Yokan 3rd
I've been listening to Deftones for about 7 years, they're one of my absolute favorite bands, and I hated this album. I agree with pretty much everything he said except for his opinion about Diamond Eyes. Diamond Eyes is my favorite album from them this decade and it's so much better than Gore it's not even funny.

This album was pretty trashy coming from a respected band of talented members. No one involved gave a fuck about crafting a quality product. People who like it are either hardcore fans giving in to serious cognitive dissonance or young kids who've never heard a Deftones album before this.
