That's the most mid-90s thing I've ever seen.
>"Nothing like you've ever heard"
WEW LAD
L M A O at anyone getting excited.
They're done. No-one from the band has produced worthwhile music in 9 years. The critical narrative that all bands must adhere to - even one with as unjustly elevated status as Radiohead - DEMANDS that this album receive lukewarm reception. p4k decided they were done with this band 5 years ago - probably in 2009 in fact. Their writers already have this album's score decided. The general public do not care about this band enough to dissent. Radiohead are finished.
Radiohead hasn't made a good album since Amnesiac.
If you disagree, then you're a massive pleb.
That includes HTTF

>No-one from the band has produced worthwhile music in 9 years
But King of Limbs was released 5 years ago.

Forgot about In rainbows and TKOL there bud
Weird considering how the last 2 albums were handled. I was kind of expecting a bored Thom tweeting "by the way, album's out tomorrow" or some shit.

Not called Hail to the Fief, m9.
So the shows they play in May and in the early days of June will be before the album is released?

YEEEEES

>caring this much about critical opinion
>>64053908
not him but he's mostly talking about how the critics (read: p4k) will react to it
and for the most part he's right
although since its "like nothing you've EVER heard" there's a chance they upset that narrative
but mostly the idea is that radiohead just isn't that cool right now. one day you will realize this is the number one decider for critical opinion on pop music
>>64054987
actually kinda true sadly. especially with rags like pitchfork who are clearly trying to tap into a cultural zeitgeist/narrative when rating music.
still though, fucking radiohead doesn't live or die based on the opinions of pitchfork lol. they're pretty big.
>>64054987
but why is critical reception even a concern? not only that, but every new song we've heard since their last release (e.g. Identikit, Cut A Hole, Skirting on the Surface, Silent Spring) has been pretty great, we have pretty good reasons for being excited to see what else they have made and how it will sound recorded and mixed in studio.

>one day you will realize this is the number one decider for critical opinion on pop music
One day you will realize that public opinion can sway their own critical opinion. Hence Pitchfork is not the number one decider.
>>64055085
that, and I mean honestly if TKOL received a positive reception from pitchfork radiohead would have to fuck this album up pretty badly to not be received well again.
something near in rainbows/hail to the thief/amnesiac level would be a massive return to form after the king of limbs.
WE DID IT REDDIT!

not saying they are at all
they cannot decide outright what is cool. they have to tap into something already existing that will give them command over that narrative -- put into words what everyone understands so they own it
but the way they do that is, in the end, completely open ended.
like on /mu/, take anything and saturate it with buzzwords. you can force any interpretation this way
Do they have another Kid A in them /mu/?
"the present tense" better be on it senpai
